A blue and cream hexie for Ondrea (June swap): As red as cherry hexie for Geniene (July swap): Lovely butterfly hexie from Bec (June swap): Hearts hexie from Leanne (July swap): and the back Kimono hexie from an angel, Jeanette: See you soon! Hexagon quilt along

Image
Have you seen this ? For all you hexie-fans another way to make hexagon blocks. I had ordered a scrap bag of Moda fabric, which had about 2.5 strips so I am going to use this fabric to join the quilt-along. I sew the strips together yesterday, need to cut them out now. More report on my progress soon hopefully. Celine

A little quilt swap

Image
Do you remember this little quilt that I received from Linda in May for our designer swap? Well I had an issue ordering a pattern for the swap so I ended up making the same quilt for my swap partner. Since I was sending my parcel to Australia, I used typical English fabric (Liberty's) to make my version of the quilt. Another OPAM for July, what a month! Celine

My fascinator

Image
I have a few pictures to share this month! I completely forgot about Friday Night Sew-In this month (which was on Friday 23rd). We spent the night outside with the neighbours and the kids for a street party. It was so nice to have a chat and a drink, order some pizzas and just relax while the kids were running wild. We hadn't had a street party for a very long time but we might have one again soon after the success of Friday. But nothing to show for my night-in as I was out! After that we had a lovely and relaxing week-end, too the kids swimming this morning, they love it and I went to give my blood again today. I am so proud to have gone back (I hadn't been for a couple of years due to pregnancies and business trips to India). Don't like needles but it is nice to think you might be able to help someone so easily. I also managed to do a little bit of sewing but I'll show you later. Today, I am showing you the fascinator I made earlier in the month for my brother's

Today was last day at school so Big Boy went in with hie little presents for his teacher and two assistants. He has a great start to his school life so far. Make a bag Sew Along

Image
Kelly has launched a lovely Sew Along at the end of May to make a bag and accessories from a charm pack and a few pieces of fabrics or from your stash. I had wanted to join in but June has been mad enough as it was! Then yesterday evening, I suddenly realised that school is finishing on Wednesday and it would be good to have a present for the teachers. I didn't know Big Boy was to change class already after only a couple of weeks with his current teacher. Anyway, I thought long and hard about what I could make quickly enough and headed towards Kelly's blog em ay kay ee to check the Sew Along and today I managed to make 2 mini make up rolls. I'll take a picture later today and post them here and on the flckr poll . Don't go and have look there if you don't want to be tempted as the projects look absolutely yummy! While you are blog hopping, go over to Heidi's blog to sign up for the Friday Night Sew-In coming on 23rd July. You could make Kelly's lovely b

Hat customisation

Image
I had bought a black and white dress for my brother wedding and wanted to wear a "head dress". With short hair, you can't really do much and I love hats so this was the perfect occasion. I found a lovely hat in Accesorize but it was all white so I decided to customise it with just a touch of black. I didn't want to have a "bride's hat" really. Here is what it/I looked like with my wedding outfit. What do you think? You can even see Big Boy in the picture! I also made a fascinator to wear at the night party. I need to take a picture and I'll post it soon. Celine

Dear Jane Triangle - RS7

Image
I started this triangle in June in my "back to Dear Jane" effort and had nearly finished it but left it to the side to attend to more urgent projects. I finally finished it on the way back home from the wedding. Here is RS 7 - Fedelia's Hearts, all done in applique for a grand total of 9 pieces. This is taking my "Travelling Jane" to 111,5,0,2413. For those of you not familiar with the Dear Jane numbering, I have done 111 blocks (out of 169), 5 triangles (out of 52), 0 kites or corners (out of 4) and used 2413 pieces of fabric so far. Celine

The wedding ring cuhion

Image
Just in time for the wedding, I finished my wedding ring cushion. Baby Daughter even helped me to fill it, she loves "helping". Here a picture of the finished cushion. The saying is in French but you can most probably make sense of it! My first OPAM for July! Celine

Back from the jungle and catching up

Image
First of all, many thanks to all the visitors and those of you who have left me some comments that I still haven't had time to personally acknowledge. I will respond to each one soon hopefully. After nearly a month without a post, here is the one I was planning to write before we went away for my brother's wedding at the end of June. Never got enough time to sit at the computer, upload my pictures and write my post. There were so many other pressing issues that blogging was left out. So I will get back in time slightly and show you where I was at end of June. First there were a few pictures of my finished Jungle quilts and a few WIPs (work in progress): the stitchery for the happy couple wedding rings cushion - my special gift to them my interpretation of the designer swap - using British fabrics by Liberty and finally the label I had stitched for a label swap on the craft forum. More updates and pictures soon but for the moment I need to concentrate on next week and the 3 i
