Yes we had a longer month than the previous one but it just flew by. There was more baking for the birthdays and lots and lots of work so very little sewing time. I managed a few bits and pieces but of course not as much as I had planned/would have liked... Hoping for finish 1.  Dance bag for A - have gone as far as cutting the fabric.  This will be my  One monthly goal  - finished! 2. Dance bag for C - not started but it would be good to finish it at the same time as the other one more or less - not started WIP 1.  Farmer's wife - no progress 2. It is that time again when I should look back at the crazy stupid long list and tick off what is finished... Of course not the whole list is finished, that's just not possible.... but at least I have made a few, some more involved than others and I have also progressed some, even if they are not completed. So lots of these will be on my list next quarter, but who knows the list could become shorter... or not ;-) Quilts: 1. HK quilt for E (all cut) - no progress 2. Modern HST triangles (half of the blocks are done) -  some progress, I have now made 19 blocks, 5 or 7 more to get a decent size top 3. Super Mario quilt (half of the blocks done, a real UFO) - no progress 4. Project 48 quilt with a few Solstice challenge blocks (all blocks done, might need a few more???) -  no progress 5. This little swingset skirt has been on my to-do list for quite a while and miss Baby has been patiently waiting for it. It is not that it was easy or long to make, more that I didn't have the elastic, I needed to change the colour of the threads on the overlocker or whatever else. I finally cut it (all 4 pieces of it!) this month, and slowly, between other projects), started to work on it. The sewing part was of course very easy! Assemble the lining, assemble the outside and put together. Now I had sold it as the twirly dress to my lovely daughter and there was a huge disappointment when she tried to twirl, it wasn't that twirly after all.... maybe we'll have to try a full circle dress next time... But now that it is finished, she absolutely love it and she is very happy I made HER some cloth. And it was so easy to make that I could easily plan another one.... for later! I was scrolling through IG a few weeks back when I came across a post from Christina at Wardrobe by Me for people to test her brand new skirt pattern: Belle . I loved the picture so sent my contact details and was almost shocked to had been picked! The skirt is lovely but of course with all the frills, it needs quite a lot of fabric and I knew I wouldn't have a piece big enough in my stash. So I scrolled the internet, ordered some fabric and waited for it. And then I was so worried it would arrive late that I went to my local shop and bought some... I know, I know. Anyway off I went with my lovely soft and silky fabric (horrible to cut!) ready to try and make that lovely skirt. What I hadn't realised in the shop but quickly noticed while my fabric was drying was how think it was and how see-through my skirt would be.... so I thought I'd be clever and cut 2 of the yokes to cover the top of my legs and that the frills would work on the rest.  I went along and built the

I was so lucky to have a sewing day last Saturday. 2 local ladies launched an appeal on FB a few weeks ago trying to gage interest for a Saturday of sewing. I signed up for it and I must admit, I wasn't disappointed. Although it was their first time, it was really well organised. 10 of us turned up doing very different projects but I think everyone had fun. Because I had a whole day, I thought it would be a good opportunity to tackle the dance bags I wanted to make for the girls. Of course, I took everything to make both bags (and more!) and of course, as usual that was over-ambitious. I had forgotten how much bags can be fiddly. Anyway, after spending most of the morning cutting the pieces (some of them wrong) I finally started sewing about lunch time. We were served a lovely hand made lunch. And after an afternoon of sewing, I had half a bag made, which wasn't bad really, but nowhere near where I had planned (hoped to be). Never mind, I went home and after the kids went to be

After checking all the blocks I had and deciding what to do with them, I thought if I wanted a finished quilt anytime soon, the more realistic plan was to use the blocks I had and make something of them without planning for more.  As much as I like these blocks they take a very long time to make and there is no way I will have the time or patience to make more in the near future.  The blocks have already been stashed away for about 2 years so it would be better to just do something with them. With that in mind, I kept 16 blocks to make a square quilt top, which should finish at 60'. Since I had laid all the blocks down on the living room floor, I figured I should sew them together quickly.... and here is the top ready for quilting.  It won't be quilted this month as I will not have time to get the frame out for it but hopefully in the not so distant future! And at least it has progressed from a pile of blocks to a quilt top now. Celine

Another week with hardly any sewing, and this mainly because of work with birthdays added to the mix. And of course, birthdays mean cakes too so I was again in the kitchen making cakes... One black forest cake at the request of the birthday boy, who is growing so fast and another Paddington Bear cake for the party girl! Celine

My APQ UFO challenge for March is to finish my bubble quilt. I made and received those blocks between 2015 and 2016 as part as a bee and as often in bees I think I didn't get all my blocks. I pulled out all my blocks and found 18 of them, including 2 of them that I might not want to include in my final quilt. So after thinking about making more blocks (I love them but they are soooo time consuming to make), I decided that maybe it would be easier to use what I have already and finish my quilt top with what I have already if I don't want it stashed for another couple of years! This is the final planned layout. The blocks are (supposed to be) 15' finished so the quilt should end as a 60' square. While starting to assemble them, I noticed some were smaller so I am making them all the correct size. Really hoping to have a finished quilt top soon now! Watch this space. Celine
