Espritpatch

I realised I haven't posted pictures of my latest framed hexies. I have been in this monthly swap for over a year now and I really enjoy it. Every month is different and it is an easy and portable project for the train commute to work. My March hexie, using the Little Birdie BOM design My April hexie, playing with hexagons When I took this picture, I didn't realised how much I was at an angle. This hexie looks so distorted! And finally a remake of one of last year. I initially had the wrong size pattern so my hexies were coming out to big so I (slowly) remade the ones that were the wrong size. I first time made this garden one in March last year. I should receive some gorgeous one soon as well! The month is drawing to a end and I haven't manage to play the lotto this time. I am still waiting for a few red and white blocks to turn up but when I get them all, I'll show you how gorgeous they are! See you soon! Celine

Finally! My little bag is on its way to Australia. I had nearly finished it before we went away, it just needed the handle but with all the packing and that I never got around to finish it. So I took it with me for the car journey and finished it in the car. As I mentioned before it was a pattern from Cotton Life a Taiwanese magazine with lots of gorgeous pictures. This bag has been designed by Laurraine Yuyama of Patchwork Pottery . I discovered the magazine through her blog! Last month I made a flower for Jane using some lovely retro fabric that I had received during a swap. I think it looks very seventies! Celine

Long time, no post! Well I have been busy and then we went on holidays where I thought I'd catch up with my blog but there was no Internet available where we stayed! So I have received plenty of white and red blocks and I'll post a picture once I have them all. We also bought a laptop lately so I did a bag for the laptop before we left (literally before as it was the night before from 11pm!) I did a 1H30 laptop bag. I used some lovely fabric from IKEA that I had bought a little while ago.  I wasn't sure what to use for the lining and found some tea towels that I had bought to make some aprons but hadn't used them to date. I thought they were very appropriate with letters on. So I decided to cut them off and use them up! I was quite pleased with the result, especially considering the time it took to get it together. I have been sewing a little every evening this week and have made good progress on my Autumn Bag. I only have the handle to make and sew on the bag now. Front: Back: Although the instructions were all in Chinese, it is very easy to follow as each step has a picture and I haven't had any difficulties so far. I have also made good progress on Big Boy's purse. I need to put the binding and the zip and it will be done. Celine

It was Mother's Day here yesterday so I suggested that maybe we could go and eat out at lunch time as didn't fancy cooking! We went in town and had lunch together. That was lovely. When we got back, I worked on my Autumn Bag from the Cotton Life magazine a little bit more. I made the different panels: front of the bag back of the bag: pocket: We also started a project with Big Boy. He has asked me to do some sewing for some time so I thought it would be fun to do a travel book as a bunting with the flags of the countries he has visited since he was born. To start simple, he started with our national flag: the French flag. He draw and coloured the flag on Saturday and we moved onto fabric on Sunday. I let him choose his fabrics in my stash. I then helped him to cut th pieces with my rotary cutter after we measured the size on his drawing that we used as a pattern. Today was our monthly sewing day with my quilting group. When I came back from my exercise class this morning at 8.30, Baby Daughter was really hot so I checked her temperature and surely enough she had some. And she wasn't happy, you could easily tell that something wasn't quite right, difficult to know what though. Anyway I took her to the doctor... again who checked her over... again. Nothing more than a bug I guess but I decided that it would be better to forgo my sewing day and stay at home, just in case. Anyway, I decided that I would fit some sewing into my day today without feeling guilty since I should have had gone for the whole day. So I worked on various projects and made some progress. I finished my first block for the Bee I joined last month: Bee Europa 2011. Muriel had sent us all pieces of fabrics by colours and asked us to make a block up to 7' tall.
