Espritpatch

This month has really not been productive at all in the sewing room. I have done a lot of other things and started to get ready for Christmas but sadly that has eaten up much of my sewing time. I also spent hours cutting fabric for the Hidden Agenda QAL but I haven't sewn a single block and I haven't even finished cutting yet so nothing to show for it really. Anyway a few victories worth thinking about... Hoping for finishes 1. Juniper cardigan - This will be my  One monthly goal  - finished 2. Summit peak top, cut and ready to be sewn     3. Scrappy Trip Along - red and green blocks needed  4. Seeing Stars Sew Along - all blocks finished, ready for quilting 5. Aveiro cardigan 6. Clare coat - in progress 7. Lingerie - Darcey bra and Binky pants finished WIP 1.  Farmer's wife - the sew along has just started, time to get going again - also my October APQ UFO challenge.... 2. Gipsy Wife - lots of catch up needed here    3. Postcard

November has definitely be a sewslowvember for me. I'm not sure whether I burnt myself out in October or whether the darkness has sapped out am my energy but I definitely don't have much to show at the end of the month... anyway one thing I have finished is my Juniper cardigan from a pattern by Jennifer Lauren Handmade. I cut the pieces in October (!) from this gorgeous berry knitted fabric I bought last winter from Fabworks . It is so soft and fine that cutting it as straight as possible was a challenge in itself! Constructing the cardigan wasn't too difficult even with such fine diaphanous fabric. I used the "wrong" fluffy side of the fabric to do the waistband, the cuffs and the neckline band. The neckline band gave me quite some trouble i must admit. First the one I had cut somehow shrunk on the part that wasn't interfaced. I tried steaming and pulling and crying but nothing worked. And of course I didn't have enough leng

This month challenge on #sewmystyle2018 was to make some lingerie. While I had tried to make panties before when I made some acacia knickers and I had never tried to make a bra before.  I bought a kit from Evie La Luve which contained a lovely yellow scuba. It wouldn't have been my first choice but I love the colours and design actually. So I started with the panties first which was pretty easy and similar to the acacia to make.  They're quite low waist but comfortable to wear. I then moved onto making the Darcey bra. I used Evie la luve fabulous you tube tutorial to make the bra.  And although it is more fiddly to make than the panties, it was easy to follow the tutorials and finish my first ever bra!  It fits me quite well and I've already worn it for 2 days in a row! I'll definitely make more, especially after I bought more supplies in the black Friday sale 😉 My first OPAM x2 for November! and two of my  Q4 FAL list Celine

I had planned and tried to make one more garment in October for the indie patterns month challenge. I cut a Mandy boat tee pattern by Tessitu Fabric. Another new to me company but that I had heard about so much on Love to Sew podcasts. I used a lovely organic cotton jersey fabric I bought from Fabworks a little while ago for my first try. Although the fabric is very wide, I only had one meter which wasn't enough for full sleeves so I cut the 3/4 sleeves instead. This was my first time sewing with a fabric with striped so the cutting took quite some time and some thoughts... but it came out very nicely adjusted after all so I'm rather pleased! The construction is really easy. The pattern advise assembling on the overlocker which I did but then decided to sew the seams on the machine anyway. As a result of that I guess and also because my fabric is not very stretchy, the sleeves are a little tight but overall it's a nice and easy free pattern. I love the line of the

I can't believe Christmas is coming and the year will draw to a close in 2 months. Where does the time go???
