October is over and has been super mega busy with 2 weeks away from home and my sewing machine! Anyway, I got a few things crossed off my list. Hoping for Finishes! 1. Castle on the Horizon - quilt for my friends' 40th. This will be my goal for  A lovely year of Finishes  - finished and gifted 2. Secret sewing for Christmas - Advent Wreath - top made, now need quilting and binding 3.  M r Snowmen cushion - quilted! need embroidery, buttons and finishing - no progress Bee Blocks  1.  I love Lucy international  block (August, September and October) - August, September and October finished 2.  Flower hexies for the Inchy Hexie Swap ( September and October )  -  September finished, October started 3.   Book Bee ( September and October ) - none 4.  Flying geese Bee - 5 blocks completed 5. Fat Stash Bee (October) - no progress 6. Bee Hive (August and October) -  August finished 7.  Block L

More blocks for my bees as I was and still am behind.... I have caught up with a few though, which feels very good! More work to do but this is what I have for now. First up are my September Inchy Hexie Flowers for Lyn, this is my 50th month in this swap! Next is my Bee Hive block for Sarah that is late from August then some Geese blocks... this one is a swap with the Lazy Bums ladies, we decided on the swap last year in November, each one of us picked a design made of geese. I finally got started on those blocks which weren't paper-pieced. For Kathinca for Gi for Rachel for Jen I also squeezed in some Farmer's Wife blocks #13 Belle, which is finished... but not perfect, those Y-seams were difficult #20 Caroline, I love this block even if I didn't follow the exact fabric placement #24 Coral And while away from my machine, I finished my Patchwork of the Cross block for Shirley. The blogger's quilt festival has launched on Friday and also I had decided when I finished my oldest UFO back in May that I would enter it for the festival, I haven't been able to write my post up until now. If you are new visiting my blog, warm welcome and I hope you enjoy your visit today. The quilt I have picked is as I mentioned before my oldest UFO. I started it in 2004 or 2005 for my cousin's 20th birthday. Inspiration: I saw this quilt in Magic Patch that featured a lighthouse and knowing this was something she really likes and collected, I thought that would be perfect for her. The lighthouse below, in Le Treport has a significant meaning as this where our great-grand-parents lived and our grand-mum used to go very often, so the lighthouse of the quilt had to match this one to be more personnel to both of us! Sorry it's been a while, life is super busy, super crazy at the moment. First there was a week-end in France for our friends'40th birthday party. Then a week back home with plenty of work and a week away in Philadelphia for work (where I managed to visit a quilt shop - more in a later post, when I'll have time to catch up) and then some more time away for the holidays! Anyway, I am so pleased that I finished my quilt to gift it to my friends just in time for their birthday party! and even more pleased that they both liked it and appreciate the work that goes into such a quilt. So here is my Nautical Castle on the Horizon finished from a pattern by Michele . It took me a few evenings to quilt it, I used different flower patterns from The Inbox Jaunt tutorials for the low volume squares. I managed to break 2 needles in the process. I used King Tut thread in light grey. For the backing I had a wide spotty red fabric by Robert Kaufman that worked well. Some worke
