May is over already and this month has been productive! Let's have a look at how much I can cross off.. Last week before our trip to France, I also finished a little cushion for my Grand-Mum who is in hospital after she broke her leg. I used one of the blocks I had made for the Farm Vintage Along: the little chick. I was going to quilt it with chicken wire but time was limited so I decided to go for some worms instead! And a cute little baby chick turned into a soft cushion that I gifted to Grand-Ma over the week-end. Another OPAM for May. Celine

Nothing better than a deadline to keep me focused. Sometimes, it seems that I can only accomplish something if a deadline is looming, I seem to need the last-minute stress. Anyway, last Saturday was my cousin's 30th birthday and I was determined to finish her quilt before her birthday party or to bin it (I didn't want to stash it away until her 40th :-) ). And I hate binning fabric that I have bought and spent time working with. The reason I was so determined to finish it this year was because this is one of my oldest UFO. I initially started that quilt for her 20th birthday (yes I know, that's 10 years ago...) and when it didn't get anywhere near finish, I stashed it away for later. My cousin has always liked lighthouses so this pattern from Magic Patch at the time had seemed perfect for her.... Later had finally arrived earlier this month when I pulled the bag out and discovered that there was so much more to do than I remembered as I had only completed 2 sections

I love the Blogger's Quilt Festival that Amy organises as there is always such a diversity of stunning quilt that I would otherwise never discover. I like the opportunity for "anonymous quilters" like me to exhibit one or more quilt and drive traffic to my little blog for a few days! It is always difficult to choose ONE quilt for the festival but this year I have been in so many swaps that I have picked one of the mini quilt I have made not that long ago. I picked the mini I made before Christmas for the IG mini swap. I picked a pattern from Diane called Celestial Star which is all paper-pieced and I picked a colour scheme which is not a common one for me, so this was quite challenging! And with 12 of these, you get a lovely star floatting inside a ring, magical! a close up of the echo-quilting and a blue binding to frame it I think my partner liked her quilt. I must say I would have gladly kept it by the time it was finished, which

I must admit I shouldn't but I am really tempted... The first one I have just found is the Hillside Houses QAL which is already half way through and is offered in 3 finished sizes... a mini anyone? And the second one is the #mysmallworldqal  from a pattern by Jen Kingwell, I even have the pattern... so why not? can't think of a good reason and that would use some of my stash surely.... Maybe I have too many project on-going already but sewing in company of others is always nice isn't it? Celine

This month, my UFO challenge is to finish a quilt I started 10 years ago and I need it finished by 23 May to gift it to my cousin for her 30th birthday (it was originally going to be for her 20th). And also I have a deadline and this long standing UFO wasn't very advanced, I haven't been able to keep at it so much... I kind of didn't like it anymore but felt I had to finish it. Anyway, I did spend some time on it last week-end to try and progress it as much as possible.  I must say that now that it is getting closer to finishing, I like it more and more. Of course, I have changed method half way through which has lead to some mistakes when I forgot to reverse the pattern... And I have also decided not to strictly follow the pattern (you can see my scribbles), to be closer to my inspiration so I am not sure how this will work at this stage....  And then I realised that I am not making my life easier as I will have a lovely Y seam there....
