February furtle

February has been far less productive than January on the sewing front... on the other hand we had 2 birthdays to celebrate (for the girls) with several parties/meals and cakes... and the month has been quite a rollercoaster for our family actually so I guess I have done the best I could? I am still trying to keep up the Tuesday lists to keep the motivation and focus and that definitely helps. Let's have a look at how this month went... I made a few blocks this month for the new quilt-alongs I joined: 2 Birthday blocks and 3 Paper Piecing blocks! I also finally finished off a hand towel with binding I made from my stash. I didn't but the binding on the biais but it seems to have worked well.  AND...I finally made a bag to my daughter, although I gifted it to her after her birthday but the most important part is that she likes it! I must admit I had a love-hate relationship with it as it didn't come out as easily or quickly as I thought it would... Linking to February Furtle

A very very busy week again but I have at least stollen a few moments to sew... when I had some energy for it. We also had a group of girls for a sleepover for my youngest's birthday party while my eldest travelled abroad by himself for the week-end for the first time. So let's say there was not much space in my head for much else... Let's look at the list I had written last week... 1.  Make block 6 for the Modern City Scape -    very little progress 2.  Sew the next Birthday Block  - no progress 3. Sew the next Ravenbrook Scrap Quilt Along blocks  -  no progress 4. Finish C's bag  -  done   and  blogged 5. Make a bag for A -  no progress This week I have managed 4 days of sewing related activities , keeping up with my goal for  15 minutes to stitch with Kate . Time to plan for the week ahead... 1. Finish block #6 and make block #7 for the Modern City Scape  2. Catch up on the next 2 birthday blocks   3. Work on Dear Jane Row E 4. Do a little cross-stitch 5. Cut and s

Back in October I bought a faux leather panel and some fabric to make a tote bag to each of my two daughters... for Christmas. Well let's say that everything was stashed away and nothing happened before Christmas. I then set my deadline as their birthday and again, I missed the target for the first one. But the difference there was that I had at least just started it before my daughter's birthday. I decided to use the Emma Tote Bag pattern by Bara-Studio for her bag since it is quite big and I needed to take into consideration the panel I had to make the most of the horse picture.  I must admit that I would have loved to see dimension of the pieces, for those ones that are simple rectangles rather than having to print all. And I did find the files a little confusing. There was no marks for the handles on the pattern I printed so I ended up deciding for myself where to add them. The pattern makes an unlined bag and although it is mentioned that it is possible to line it, ther

The last week has been a real rollercoaster for our family, which partly explained why I am so late posting for this week and also why I hardly achieved anything from my last list... Motivation has been pretty low and time has run away from me. At least I have forced myself to exercice more again to help empty my head...  Let's look at the list I had written last week... 1. Make block #5 for the Modern City Scape -  done and blogged . I even managed to fix 3 more mistakes in that first row... 2. Catch up on the next  Birthday  blocks -  done 3.  Sew the next Ravenbrook Scrap Quilt Along blocks - no progress 4. Finish C's bag - very little progress This week I have managed only 2 days of sewing related activities , keeping up with my goal for  15 minutes to stitch with Kate . Time to plan for the week ahead 1.  Make block 6 for the Modern City Scape  2.  Sew the next Birthday Block   3. Sew the next Ravenbrook Scrap Quilt Along blocks 4. Finish C's bag 5. Wow il just caught up with the Modern City Scape blocks as the next one is coming out.  I had finished block #4 last week and added it to the first 3 And I finished block #5 on Saturday  But when I prepared to join block 5 to the first 4 blocks I noticed I hadn't assembled block 5 correctly, another one! The panel on the right should have been on the left.... And looking more closely, I noticed the same mistake in block 4 plus the bottom right courber had been sewn upside down.... So there has been quite a lot of ripping this morning but finally the first row is complete! Linking to    Patchwork and Quilt , D esign  Wall Monday ,  Midweek Makers ,  Wednesday Wait Loss Céline
