Espritpatch

  Another month gone and I can't say I've had much sewing time, far too much happening otherwise. School year finished early July for all 3 children, with exams and exam results for 2 of them. We then had the Main Square festival over 4 days, too much music and partying to find some sewing time! We then FINALLY sign on our new house. It's been quite a long time coming and very eventful until the 11th hour but we signed mid July. Now we have the keys, there is a lot of work to be done before we can move in. And of course, France being France, lots of admin before we can even start the renovation work. We finished repainting the hallway and staircase in our current house which took quite some time too and wasn't the most fun really but it looks so much cleaner now. On the sewing front, I haven't done much this month really, too much in my head, no time and no energy when there were little pockets of time. I only managed to sew the pregnant Barbie outfit that I needed

  Does it make any sense to even draw a list... I've hardly been sewing the last few weeks so what for? On the other hand, having a list helps me focus so maybe I should write one, even a very short one... let's try again 1. Finish block F8 2. Start my Iris bag 3.  80%! The quilt along is long finish and I'm lagging behind but at least I'm still behind!!  I made block #20 this last week, after weeks not turning my machine on. I was hoping to make more than one block but a migraine on Friday decided otherwise. So here it is block 20: And with block 20, I can finish row 4! 5 more blocks and I'll have the top finished.  And not just any Barbie, a pregnant one too! My brief was to make an outfit  that would show the pregnancy. Not my usual dressmaking! I started by looking for patterns but quickly decided that I wouldn't anything suitable so I settled on a pair of wide large trousers and a top, long at the back and cropped at the front.  I tried both pieces with some scrap fabric I had at home and cut off the pieces that needed to come off, particularly on the trousers. Once all fitted I was able to unpick and use the pieces as my new papattern. I forgot to keep them or take a picture! All worked reasonably well but the hems ended up to be very fiddly so I decided to stitch them all by hand. The delivery has been accepted (thankfully for me!), a few weeks ago now but it has taken me this long to post it.  At least one finish in July and my  One monthly goal ! With the lack of sewing time lately I have fallen behind quite badly of the various quilt-along.  Last month, I only made one block for Modern City Scape, block #18. I also started on block #19 but didn't finish it. And block #19 I have attached all 3 blocks of Row #4 together. I had completed blocks #16 & 17 in May but never got around to post them here.   I had some energy last week as I had a deadline! Not sure this coming week will be as productive as there is a big music festival locally so less time to sew! Looking at the smaller list I wrote last week, I can happily report some finishes.  1. Finish  block F8 -  some progress 2.
