February has flown by really! We had a lovely week in the Alps, enjoying the snow, the sun and the ski. It was so good to be away after so long. Not much sewing has happened once more but at least I can report some little progress! No finish this month though... I worked on my Farmer's Wife quilt, which is only about half way through now... with 5 more blocks. I also worked on my Dear Jane quilt while we were travelling and completed 2 more blocks and 1 rectangle. A grand total of 8 blocks this month! I also spent some of my travelling time stitching on the Nutcracker parade. The middle baubles are not completely finished yet but I am not far now! Linking to  Febuary Furtle Celine

  Before the holidays, I finally cut out one new block for the Farmer's Wife quilt 39 [Friendship] that I completed on our return While sewing #39, I also cut out and worked on another block 30 [End of Day] since both could be made without templates. For this one, I decided to simplify the construction, constructing squares out of 2 strips and making HSTs out of the squares. The fabric placement is different from the book but I figured that this is my interpretation of the quilt and it would be fine this way.  Next on my list were those 3 blocks with the first 2 being very similar in design [28] Duck and Ducklings [32] Farmer's Daughter [33] Famer's Puzzle This one gave me lots of trouble, I think I probably unpicked every single seam at least once. And I am still not happy with it as the central piece didn't match... I unpicked again but I am not sure it is better, I won't touch it anymore now.. . That's 5 more blocks for February and now 57 blocks for my FW qu

  I played the lottery with the Block Lotto quite a few times over the years. In 2014, Sophie offered a full quilt pattern on top of the blocks for the lotto. Of course, I started it but ran out of steam half way through the year.... The final quilt should have looked like this .  This abandonned project is my APQS UFO for February so I digged the blocks out and found 47 of them.  Looking at the finished quilt, I would still miss 5 Sunrise blocks , 14 Little Windows blocks, 6 Sweet Dreams blocks , 4 Woven Bar blocks , 8 Easy X blocks , and 3 Big O blocks so another 40 blocks. Now I could make a pretty good quilt from what I have already. But should I make more blocks and have a bigger quilt? One crucial question for this is do I have background fabric left, and if so, where is it? One temptation is to assemble the blocks together and finish the quilt now but equally looking at the picture of the finished quilt, I really like it! But there is a lot of work left in it...   While I didn't manage as much sewing as I was expecting while we were away, I made a little more progress on my cross-stitching, mainly on the way down. Last week, my Mum stayed over one night so I stitched away while spending the evening with her by the fireplace. And at the week-end, we took a daytrip to Paris with our daughters so that gave me time for a little more stitching. Little by little this one is growing!   I thought that I might spend lots of time sewing last week while on holidays but in the end I made the most of the snow and the beautiful weather and enjoyed some skiing and relaxing. Getting there and back took quite some time so the car journey was a good opportunity to work on my Dear Jane. The assembling of rows A & B is now half completed. Not the most exciting but I don't want to leave it all to the end.      G11 decisions, decisions (13 pieces + sashing) I worked on this block in the last car journey at Christmas but lost one of the diamond to applique. The block is now finished and sashed, I realised one of the square fabric was not in the same direction but eventually decided to keep it as it was.      E3 Paddle Wheels (20 pieces + sashing) One block entirely completed during the return journey RS9 Danish Delight (23 pieces) I started this triangle in May... 2010 (!).  The Boho Heart Sew Along restarted yesterday so I rejoined! First step was to work out which blocks I had already done and which stage I had reached. This year I printed the blocks labels and added them to all the completed blocks I found in my box in an effort to be more organised and also to make it easier to pick up the project again later, should I not follow it through until the end... I had joined last year but only managed to complete the first 2 weeks and not even in time with the schedule. Granted that was already 21 blocks altogether... Week 1 was all about squares (4-patch, 9-patch, checkerboard) Week 2 's focus was HSTs Week 3 will be based on Dresden fan, that will be in 2 weeks time but hopefully I can get ahead with the cutting so I'll have a chance to stay in the race...   February is a short month with some birthdays and school holidays so I guess I should be expecting much sewing time. I'll try to focus on some of the projects that I have got out already...
