Bee Europa 2012

Image
This month, Muriel has sent us some pretty fabric with Kona stone background so we could make her a convergence corners block following this tutorial  for her month in Bee Europa 2012-2013 . I sliced off the charm square to 4' before I started. My first round uses 1.5' strips and in the second round, the strips are 2'. The block finishes off at 13', slightly bigger that what Muriel asked for but I will send it for her to square off. I am linking this block to Building Blocks Tuesday on Jen's blog . And if you are for the giveaway, please check my post from yesterday. Celine

Work in progress and a giveaway

Image
I have been doing a lot of chain piecing at the sewing machine lately to make various blocks for bees, swaps etc. I like to cut all my fabric at once so it is all ready by the machine for the piecing and then I'll sew as much as I can to have a big stack to take to the ironing board. I find it works well for me and save me time. I read a while ago about leaders and enders on Bonnie Hunter site Quiltville and try to have some available as much as possible. My leaders and enders at the moment are my tiny squares for my postage stamp Super Mario block. I have a fat Yoshi, ready to be "Squared up" hopefully by the end of the week and half a fat jumping Mario. I will be linking this to WIP Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced Now for the giveaway, I have a spare copy of Popular Patchwork Magazine for September to give away. Just leave me a comment telling me how you like to work on your projects. Do you take it one step at a time or do you try to cut all, sew all etc...

Pretty pictures

At the week-end, I received my Polaroid from the Picture Perfect Polaroid block swap. 30 gorgeous little blocks... now I just need to find the right project to use them up with the ones I had kept for myself and posted here ! Celine

Bento are back!

Image
I haven't been doing much BOM Rehab lately, in fact my last post was about 2 months ago I think. I didn't so any Bento box last month as part of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge because I didn't have that much aqua/teal. This month colour is orange and I have some orange in my stash. I choose 2 fabrics I bought in the last year or so for my blocks. I choose a fabric by Erin McMorris with lovely bicycles and the other one is a dotty fabric by Amy Butler And here my 2 blocks together: Challenge of the day: take a picture of my blocks before they are attacked by a dribble offensive... Miss Baby is crawling nearby. Done! I will be linking my blocks to Sinta's BOM Rehab today Celine

Japanese fabric charm squares swap

Image
Do I need more fabric? Probably not I guess. But then it depends who you ask... Can I resist gorgeous, yummy Japanese fabric? No, of course not! So I signed up for the UK Japanese Charm Swap  and shopped for a yard of gorgeous fabric and it was so difficult to choose just one! I received the fabric while away and cut bring myself to cut it. So I choose a quiet time while the kids were at school to start slicing it off and to make a pretty pile of lovely squares, now on their way to our swap mama. Celine

Hexie flowers

Another lovely parcel I found in my holiday mail: 2 hexie flowers from Heather in red and blue to mark the Golden Jubilee and the Olympic Games in London. I will let you guess where these ones were sent from... They will brighten my garden, thanks Heather! Celine

Bee Weave it or Not!

Image
I have been back to these gorgeous blocks lately. We took a month break in the Bee in August to play catch up as we had almost all fallen behind I think. I only had to catch on my 2 July blocks to Anneliese. She had sent us a bag of strips, that we should complement with our stash and the background fabric for her blocks. I only had background fabric for one block so my second block is with the star points only (yes I use scraps of printed paper for my paper piecing, recycling as much as I can!) And her 2 "almost" complete blocks together, they will be on their way very soon, I hope they'll fit nicely with the rest of her blocks! Edited to add that I am linking my blocks to Newbie Jen's linky party : Building Blocks Tuesday. Join us to show off the lovely blocks you are working on! Celine
