Espritpatch

Last week I finished quilting my Maisy quilt and I am really trying to get it completely finished and ready to use this month. So at the week-end, I prepared my binding from the scraps of backing fabric I had left when squaring the quilt off. And of course, the long process of hand sewing the binding has started on Sunday night in front of Downton Abbey. I am approximately half way through now (there is just under 7m to sew). This week-end has gone like a flash again. I am not sure what I did but I certainly didn't do as much sewing as I was hoping to do. I did manage to finish 2 bee blocks for the Simply Solids Bee (another one when I am playing catch up...) and finished my 2 blocks for Ange. They were not too difficult but I must say the center doesn't look as good as I was hoping. There are so many seams coming to the middle that it is hard to have it neat. Ange asked for some bright blocks so I hope mine are bright enough! I also worked on my improv block for Amy which isn't quite finished yet but I am getting there. I am always a bit intimidated by improv blocks but I must say I quite like how my units have turned out so far. Linking with Building Blocks Tuesday and Sew Cute Tuesday . Celine

Look at this people, my quilt is off the frame, yes off the frame so of course this means that the quilting is FINISHED! I am so happy that I finished it tonight. I was nearly there on Tuesday night and was hoping to finish it last night but I finished working far too late and decided to go straight to bed rather than start quilting after 10 pm. And  that was probably sensible with 3 children unwell in the house. Miss Baby had croup and very high temperature overnight which resulted in a 3-hour night for me. Today has been a long day and it was nice to end it with a play on my quilting frame. So here it is, the quilt is quilted and only needs its binding now. I am so pleased that I am finally at this stage. The blocks were made in 2011 by my fellow bees from Bee Europa and I assembled the top last year. And finally this year I picked it up again. So it is past 10 pm here and I have just switched off my work computer. I was hoping that my main WIP this week, the quilting on my frame (which I haven't used for 2 years) of my Maisy quilt (ready since last year in August!) would no longer be a WIP (after being a UFO for over a year) but unfortunately, it will still be when I go to bed very soon. I was really looking forward to a little bit of quilting tonight but with 3 out 3 children ill at the moment and lots and lots of work to do, it won't happen today. I am really happy to have got my frame out again and to have finally managed to use it again after a disastrous Sunday. I have quilted on it Monday and Tuesday and I only have part of one row and one border left on the quilt so hopefully it shouldn't be a WIP for much longer. My (secret) goal is to have it ready to be finished (hand sewing the binding) on Sunday in front of Downton Abbey. Let's see if that works! My other WIP this week are my solid bloc...

Yesterday was a very autumnal day here with lots of rain and not much sight of the sun. It was also the LMQG monthly meeting but I didn't attend because we have some poorly children at the moment at home. With a long day ahead and not much plans, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to quilt on my frame. Now my frame was put away about a year ago before our extension started and hasn't been used since. We had to dismantle it to store it away so the first step was to put it back together and remember how to use it, which I thought would be quick and easy. Well it wasn't quick, it wasn't easy and it wasn't going very well. I kind of lost my patience, DH decided he wouldn't give up until it worked so after hours of trials and errors and 2 broken needles, I went to bed last night not having quilted one centimeter (and also very frustrated I must say), and I didn't feel like blogging yesterday since I had nothing to report (or at least nothing of int...

As you can probably from most of my posts, I am still playing catch up with my bee blocks. I never thought it would take that long, but here we are! Today I managed to finish one more set of Granny Squares, for Olivia in blue, orange and grey. This means that I am no longer behind with the Granny Square Bee , yeah! I still have to do the October blocks of course but at least I have caught up with this one! And yesterday, I received a package from Gabriella to make her block for Bee Europa for October (yes I am on time with this one!) and guess what, I have already finished making her blocks. There were very easy blocks so I made them straight away and they will go back to her next week! Now I need to catch up with my Simply Solids blocks and one more Siblings Together and I will be back in the game, pheww! I am still trying with the crochet.
