Gold medal?

OK Luigi is my first block from the Super Mario quilt-along to be finished so I suppose he could get a gold medal but he isn't perfect... some of the seams don't match perfectly so.... maybe not gold.


Never mind, I am happy I have finished the first block. I didn't use foundation in the end but it worked well enough. It was fun to make if a bit time consuming, but then sewing together 324 tiny 1.5' squares would be anyway...I had never pieced a block made of such tiny squares before so I was a bit apprehensive but I enjoyed the process, took it as slowly as necessary, and I am happy enough with my first block. Well, I am only 3 blocks behind in the quilt-along now!

    I think this block looks fabulous!
    That certainly was a LOT of work and tons of little pieces to assemble.

    I love it! Postage stamps take work, but are worth it. Are all the backgrounds going to be yellow? It looks great!

Welcome to my stop on the Hexie Blog Hop Be a Hexie Queen ! Ravenbrook Scrap Quilt Along

  Yes I know, another new project... but (!) this one is all about using my scraps, what's not to love. And the instructions come in German for the  Ravenbrook Scrap Quilt Along .  The first 3 blocks are made of rectangles and I used only scraps to make those (I can't really say I have made a dent in my scrap basket either actually...) I picked green as the focus colour for the blocks since this is the January colour for the Rainbow Scraps Challenge organised by Angela I joined the challenge years ago but hadn't participated in recent times. Of course it would be tempting to start yet another project but I think using my scraps for this quilt along in the set colour of the month is a safer plan.
