UR Priceless - Day 3
Welcome to England and thanks for stopping by! Make yourself comfortable while I share with you my little purse.
I saw the lovely picture above for the blog hop and decided that I *NEEDED* one of this beauty too!
I picked 2 heavy weight fabric for the outside of my purse
The red is off cuts from a tea towel and the black is a remnant of furnishing fabric.
And for the inside, I used a scrap of Moda red that I had in my scrap basket.
The purse is quite easy to construct and the instructions that Madame Samm had written for us were well detailed with plenty of pictures. The purse goes together very easily if you follow what she says! I am not on for pinning extensively and when I tried to assemble the pieces together, I thought 3 pins would be enough (one at each corner and one in the middle). Well it isn't as my fabric moved slightly and then the points didn't meet at the bottom of my purse. I could have left it but I didn't like it so I unpicked and sew it again after pinning a lot!
The frame of the purse was a bit hard to find on this side of the Atlantic as I didn't want postage to cost me more than the frame really! But I ordered a pack of 3 from Arlene on Etsy and the frames arrived quite quickly from Hong-Kong (less than 2 weeks) ! Yes you read correctly, I ordered not one but three. I haven't had chance to make more than one for now, but I am planning 2 more (at least) as I think it would be a great teacher's gift!
I was dreading sewing the frame on the purse as I had never tried anything like this before, but it was easy actually! This is my finished purse, I love how it turned out. Now if money could grow on plants too, I would easily fill my purse!
Thanks to Madam Samm and Katherine for organising the blog hop! You can find the whole blog hop schedule on Katherine's blog here.
Thanks for your visit and enjoy the rest of your tour!
