Travellin' Pic Stitch

Welcome! Today is my stop on the Travellin' Pic Stitch Blog Hop organised by Laura at Quokka Quilts
Make yourself comfortable and less travel together for a little bit.

Should we go to my birth place in Picardie (Northern France), mainly know for the Battle of the Somme fields from the First World War?

Here is a nice picture of Amiens, the main town nearer my tiny little village:

Or should we cross the Channel, and head over to Bedfordshire in England where I now live with my family?
Lovely countryside:

No actually, let's go on a holiday together, why not? Are you ready? Let's travel east and land somewhere in Japan. Of course Japan is a land full of colours and contrasts

but in my mind, Japan's colours are "red and black". For my red and black project, I choose a picture of a Torii Gate that we took with Hiroshima in the background for my Pic Stitch and ran it through a palette generator.

I then selected fabric from my stash covering more or less those 4 colours and cut some hexagons with my Sizzix dies to EPP them. OK maybe I was a bit over-optimistic with how many I thought I would manage to sew before today.
I haven't unfortunately finished them yet but I have some car travelling ahead of me in the next few weeks and this is a perfect project to do in the car so I should hopefully be able to share with you soon, my Japanese Torii inspired hexagon piece. I don't think I will be making rosettes but I am thinking more diamonds?

Come back and check on me if you wish, maybe I will have completely changed my idea once I have many more to play with!
Thank you very much for your visit, I hope you have enjoyed your time here.
Now fasten your seat belt as you are heading across the Ocean to visit Shawn in America tomorrow before coming back to Europe to visit Joanna on Saturday.
