E9: Quilting jail

 This block definitely felt like being in jail... so many tiny pieces and so many opportunities for issues with all the lines to align. I really tried my best but the block is not perfect...BUT "finished is better than perfect" so I will learn to live with it.

It has been a long time coming since I started it during our holiday in Canada last summer and only finished it this week while on holidays. I had picked it up again at time but it was so hard to align all the pieces that I easily lost motivation. Finally this past week, I tackled it, since I was in a lovely spot, sewing with a view!

Once I finished the center I noticed than one of the stripe was quite wonky.

I decided to unpick it and sew it back. Well I am not sure I have made it better really, so it was time to leave it be....

This little block is 35 pieces without the sashing. 

Once the sashing was added and I was ready to add it to row E, I noticed I had made a mistake when again E10 to E11... 

After unpicking and sewing all back together, here is E9 in situ

And with this block, I have 141 out of 169 blocks completed. 1 more and row E will be finished.

Welcome to my stop on the Hexie Blog Hop Be a Hexie Queen ! Blog hop and a giveaway

I have written a blog for over 2 years now but started quilting about 10 years ago, mainly self-taught. Ravenbrook Scrap Quilt Along

  Yes I know, another new project... but (!) this one is all about using my scraps, what's not to love. And the instructions come in German for the  Ravenbrook Scrap Quilt Along .  The first 3 blocks are made of rectangles and I used only scraps to make those (I can't really say I have made a dent in my scrap basket either actually...) I picked green as the focus colour for the blocks since this is the January colour for the Rainbow Scraps Challenge organised by Angela I joined the challenge years ago but hadn't participated in recent times. Of course it would be tempting to start yet another project but I think using my scraps for this quilt along in the set colour of the month is a safer plan.
