Modern HST Quilt-Along

Image
One of the few quilt-along that I am so far managing to keep up with! There were 2 more blocks this month all with Half-Square Triangles of course. First was the Mountain block and second was Formation, I must admit I didn't use the method described in the tutorial but just the classic method to make 2 HST from a square. And after one term of sewing along, here are my 6 blocks together. I am loving this and the fabric too! 2 more blocks for the 350-blocks challenge taking my total to 45 for March. It's been a while...

So over 2 weeks have passed since my last post, and I wished I had kept the same rythm, but I haven't! There has been more cake [after all Big Boy turned 10], more travelling [a 20th birthday party for my cousin in France and some work meetings] and also unfortunately lots of time in bed... I caught the flu and it has really struck me down badly. I went to bed at 8pm (unheard for me!) for quite a few nights in a row and spent the whole Sunday in bed with temperature. Of course, all that together meant a lot less time in the company of my sewing machine. And this will also mean that I won't complete all my blocks this month, but I have made a few since last time! I have tried to go through the to-do list and add some for fun! So I have made good progress on my geese blocks, finishing Laurie's Geese in the Forest with 2 more blocks and also Anneliese's 4 geese blocks I now have only one set of blocks left for my #100dayschallenge! I also made my March (and

Another week of making blocks!

I have some many WIPs and QALs at the moment as well as a few bees that I seem to endlessly making blocks, but you know what? I love it. I love the variety and I love seeing a few more blocks added to my piles regularly. And this week, on top of a Foret Noire, that has caused me quite some trouble.... was no exception with a range of blocks being made. I finally finished my January (!) block for Fat Stash Bee, a lovely pineapple blocks which isn't paper-pieced. It wasn't difficult at all but somehow I dreaded it so I took forever to get started... and also made the March block, a nice fast an easy one! Also one little geese block, I still have quite a few to finish and my goal for March is to have all of those done and out of my house! More of these tiny blocks for the 365 Quilt Challenge. I am not caught up yet but at least I am not falling further behind too much! 8 more to the pile this week I also finally got back to the Town and Country Quilt Block a

Checking in for the 100 Day Challenge

Image
So it is already the second check-in for the 100 day challenge... a little over a month left now. I missed the last check-in point, well I didn't write a blog post for it. So let's recap for now where I am in those 3 projects I picked. 1. Catch up with my bee blocks - I haven't caught up with all the geese blocks yet but I have completed 9 blocks so far, still about the same to do - oops For the other bee blocks, I am now more or less back on track, yeah! 2. HKQAL - I have finally made a good start on this one, completed 2/3 of it on Saturday, so good progress here but I doubt it will be finished by the end of the 100 days. Maybe the top? 3. A new bag for me - I have a new bag, which was an old UFO. It's not perfect but it works for now. Might need a new one though :-) Linking to Jen's 100 Day Challenge check-in , will you play along? A new bag from an old UFO

So I finished a UFO at the end of February... and of course it feels good. Even if it is a "finished is better than perfect!". And even more so because I need a new bag and this one was nearly finished. So why, could you ask, did it take me 5 years to finish it? I started this bag in 2011 selecting an outside fabric from IKEA and the lining from my stash I created my own design based on my specific needs for my train commute, with pockets for my ticket, my work pass and my phone. Well my phone has changed in the mean time, I don't commute on the train anymore and I don't need a work pass anymore... And when I started, I did quite well, I made the outside and the lining back in February 2011 and then I got stuck.... I wanted to close the bag with a zip but I wanted to give it some " space" so I started to prepare the zip and the 2 panels for the top.... and stashed away the whole think for a while because I wasn't quite sure what and how t
