Ogden cami

Image
I could call this one an unfinished finish.... I cut this Ogden cami while cutting a batch of hankies earlier in the month. The cotton fabric was just too pretty to be reduced to hankies only! And the Ogden is an old favourite! I spent quite some time last weekend to sew it up, all finished with French seams.  Of course I used the appropriate label too!  I was quite pleased with it... until I tried it on. It looked absolutely awful on me. It was too tight at the front on my bust. As for the back there's far too much material and it's dragging. I was so disheartened that I threw it to one side.... I picked it up in the week and removed all the French seams which has loosened the seams a little. It looks better at the front but I suspect I need a sway back adjustment or something else. So this finished top will eventually come apart completely.... not sure how much I'll be able to salvage.... I have made a few Ogden before but I guess the fabric was draping...

Back to an oldie....

Last year I started several projects at the beginning of the year and I don't think I finished any. I parked them while working on presents and other stuff and they've been sliding down the pile quietly. Well this week I digged out one of them. I picked the Threadology quilt-along again. I had made the first 3 series of blocks last year. I made serie 4 this week, 1 large churn dash block and 4 smaller ones. And with these additional 5 blocks I'm half way through the blocks for this quilt top. Let's hope it doesn't get parked for another year! Cross roads - a block tutorial

As I was saying in my post yesterday, I am queen bee this month in the Siblings Together Bee 2. I couldn't find a pattern I really wanted to use so I played a little bit with an high-tech quilt design software (aka Excel) to put on paper/screen the idea I came up with, which could work for a bee. I decided on this block that I have called Cross Roads. It is a "pixelated" block that can be chain pieced very easily. Read on if you want to know how to piece it with, what I like to call my "extreme chain piecing" method, which is also an excellent method to avoid any confusion/mistake when you are piecing a pixelated block. All the squares are sewn as arranged for the block. I used this method when I worked on my Super Mario blocks and it was perfect with all these little 1' squares.
