Nearly there....

Image
There is always too much going on in December and this year is no exception....  I have been very very busy with work and everything else on top. I have also worked a lot on one of my WIP and I am so pleased that I am nearly there. Our lovely childminder is sadly retiring this week (she had told us about 18 months ago but I have been in denial until really recently just because she is brilliant). Anyway, when I started the Farm Girl Quilt in the spring, I knew I wanted to make it for her. And I initially did well with the first few blocks and then completely fell off track. With 6 blocks when I needed 30 for the quilt I wanted to make, there was some serious catch up to do! So I worked through the blocks in the last few weeks and finally made my last block this week-end. The quilt top was assembled by Monday night and I quilted it yesterday with a lovely flower pattern inspired by The Inbox Jaunt . So here it is a WIP that I need to turn into a finish this week.... Just the...

Very Important WIP

As I mentioned yesterday, I am trying to catch the train again for some of the quilt-along I started, although for this particular one, the train has already reached its destination without me in October. Anyway, back in the Spring I started the Farm Girl Vintage quilt-along from Lori Holt with the idea of making a quilt for my kids childminder who will retire at Christmas. Plenty of blocks but plenty of time, starting that early. Apart that I completely fell off track in July and didn't touch it at all since then, even though I had a few blocks already prepared. So another one where I have decided to play catch up! I am trying to make blocks about one every day in the hope that the quilt will be finished on time to be gifted... Wish me luck... So in the last few days, I have managed to finish 3 more blocks released in May and June! Chicken Foot Cool Threads Corn and Tomatoes So I now have 9 blocks for this quilt, I think there are 45 in total but I am not goin...

Guest blogger - Building Blocks Tuesday

Image
Today, I have the honor to be guest blogger for Jen at Quilter in the Closet for her Building Blocks Tuesday. Welcome if you are new here and coming from Jen's blog. Jen started the linky party while I was in a swap with her, a little while back. I love the idea of a block linky party because I am not industrious and able to produce a quilt every other week! And also because I am in so many swaps, bees etc, I make quite a lot of blocks that are just blocks, i.e. I will never make them in a finished quilt but just send them on for someone else to enjoy. Let me show you the blocks I made recently to catch up and then why not linking yours in the linky party below? This week, I made 2 more Farm Vintage Blocks, I am still behind but slowly trying to catch up and also made a bee block for Muriel for Bee Europa. Muriel sent her fabric for the Tic Tac Toe block. I love her choice and can't wait to see the finished quilt! My first 3 blocks this month for the 350-b...

A little chick

Last week before our trip to France, I also finished a little cushion for my Grand-Mum who is in hospital after she broke her leg. I used one of the blocks I had made for the Farm Vintage Along: the little chick. I was going to quilt it with chicken wire but time was limited so I decided to go for some worms instead! And a cute little baby chick turned into a soft cushion that I gifted to Grand-Ma over the week-end. Another OPAM for May. Celine

A paper piecing marathon

This month, my UFO challenge is to finish a quilt I started 10 years ago and I need it finished by 23 May to gift it to my cousin for her 30th birthday (it was originally going to be for her 20th). And also I have a deadline and this long standing UFO wasn't very advanced, I haven't been able to keep at it so much... I kind of didn't like it anymore but felt I had to finish it. Anyway, I did spend some time on it last week-end to try and progress it as much as possible.  I must say that now that it is getting closer to finishing, I like it more and more. Of course, I have changed method half way through which has lead to some mistakes when I forgot to reverse the pattern... And I have also decided not to strictly follow the pattern (you can see my scribbles), to be closer to my inspiration so I am not sure how this will work at this stage....  And then I realised that I am not making my life easier as I will have a lovely Y seam there.... Anyway, this pro...

Time to catch up

Image
My count of blocks for April has been so low that I am of course behind on some of my bee blocks. So I have been working on those mainly this week to try and catch up so I can also work on other projects.  First block I finished this month was the Tic Tac Toe for Kerstin for Bee Hive Europe then I made Pippa's block for Bee Europa. This was a quick and easy block to make! I love the dramatic effect of the black and white. And I made a little hexie flower to go with my mini basket for Natalie my April #2015IGsecretpals partner I have also managed to get started on the new Farm Girl Vintage quilt-along on the same week it started! I am planning to use the blocks to make a quilt for my childminder who has sadly decided to retire at the end of the year. I made a 12' block for the quilt  and a 6' block to make a pincushion for my #2015IGsecretpals partner I have also picked up my #bookbee blocks while I started working on my cousin's quilt ...
