  The Flabellum quilt-along started a few weeks back and guess what? Yes of course I am already behind. I was on time to cut all the pieces but then I was working on other (non-quilt) projects so I never started the piecing on time. Finally last week I went through the chain piecing to make all these garlands from week 1. Week 2 was all about cutting off the garlands and ironing the strips.... Week 3 was about making the building blocks, 36 units, which I finally made this week-end In week 4, we are making the blocks, all 9 of them and I am happy to say that they are now finished! And with that I am caught up, yeah! So that's an additional 36 blocks for May!  I had plans to work on a bag this week, but I was too tired in the evenings to do much so I decided to make more of these little blocks. Overall it has been quite a good week for this long standing UFO! I picked the blocks that had the same date as the day I was making them from any month that I hadn't yet done. I must admit I picked some easier, less intricates one as I wanted to try to make more than one everyday. That's exactly that! 1296 squares each 1.5' in size. And these 1296 squares have been arranged in a quilt top! A Hello Kitty quilt top to be more precise! This is my second one from a pattern by Sukie (I don't think her blog is still available) I made the first one for my daughter in 2016 and parked the rest of the squares until earlier this month. Mainly because I didn't want to makea second identical quilt soon after three first one and mainly because I needed to cut the blue squares for the border. Anyway with an identified recipient and a deadline I was good to go. Plus my middle daughter kindly pre arranged the pieces for the blocks ready to be speed pieced. I made a few blocks every night last week and by Sunday night, I had my quilt top. Next step is to quilt of course but this has not yet happened since I was away for work all this week. The top is finished! My Fair Isle top has gone from pieces of fabric at the beginning of the month to a quilt top 2 weeks later, wow!  I finished piecing it on Sunday and I am so happy to have got to this stage, relatively quickly. During the week, I pieced the other rows with all the blocks I had finished last week-end and I loved them so much that I thought I wouldn't put it off until I was finished with the top. All I had left was the red zig zag rows - which required a bit of attention to ensure there was indeed a zig zag! and the reindeer blocks with the snowflakes. This is another example (you can read my previous post about this) where I wish I hadn't cut the strips to the exact size but left a little leeway to cross cut the strips. It didn't turn out too bad with the 6' strips but it was worth with the 12' ones and there is no opportunity to square off the sides if you have cut the strips to the exact size. I am a hexie lover and always have an emergency supply of hexies in my bag for when I am on-the-go (which is actually very often) and when I first signed up for the blog hop, I thought I would show you a EPP (English Paper Piecing) hexie project. That was until I remembered a long forgotten UFO that was laying in a plastic bag in my cupboard. This week has been really difficult and I am for the first time in months back to working 4 days a week so I was in great need of a relaxing evening last night. What better way of relaxing that sitting in my sewing room and playing with my sewing machine. I was planning a lazy afternoon today, doing more sewing but I got dragged into sorting out the garage while Miss Baby was having a nap. The 2 eldest were playing quietly, maybe too quietly while we were very productive in the garage. I know it is never a good sign when it gets really quiet... Anyway when Miss Baby woke up, DH went to pick her up and HORROR, he quickly discovered why they were so quiet... Mr Cars was trying his hardest to make Miss Strawberry Shortcake prettier than she already is. He dressed her with her new dress (wrong side at the front) and new cardigan that I bought for the few events we have coming up this year and then instead of doing her hair up with as many slides as I can found as he normally does, he dec...

I can't believe it has been 2 full weeks since I last posted anything, where does the time go? As you can guess it has been pretty busy here, probably why I had disappeared temporarily from my blog. I still trying to find a routine now that I am back at work and I must say it is far from easy to fit everything in, probably another reason why I only blog erratically at the moment. In the last week or so we also had birthday celebrations, which have kept me busy in the kitchen. Miss Strawberry Shortcake turned 4 this month so we had a "at home" party where I road tested my princess castle cake and then a "with friends" celebration at the local indoor play area with a Hello Kitty cake and a "family and friends" joint party back home in France at the week-end where I cooked for 27 and made another "princess castle" cake for Miss Strawberry Shortcake a football for Mr Cars who is turning 7 next month and a teddy bear for Miss Baby who ...

Thank you to all of you who visited my blog during the Dare to Dresden blog hop, I am glad so many of you commented on my liberated Dresden or wavy Dresden. I will try to get back to everyone who is not a no-reply bogger individually but at the moment, I seem to have very little free time. Before I start something new/else, I have played catch up with my bee blocks over the last week or so, I am getting there but I still have a couple to finish off.
