December in review

Once again, there's been hardly any sewing this month... there's been quite a lot of baking before and for Christmas.  I adopted the new tradition of the mannele for Saint Nicolas  I've tried new-to-me buche recipes like this  apple and speculoos one Or this chocolate and raspberry one We had a long road trip and I found my hand sewing kits just before leaving so managed to work on a Dear Jane block on the way.  It had been such a long time since     we had a road trip     I sewed in the car     I worked on a Dear Jane block! I also worked on my bag but didn't manage to finish it... hopefully not long now And while we spent time in the car, I managed some cross stitching, with the yellow frame on the left.  Linking to December Furtle ,  Put your Foot Down ,   Finished or Not Friday ,  Sherry ,  Michelle ,  Peacock Party Celine

PHD in 2021 - recap

Image
Back in January, I joined Quilting Gail for PHD in 2021 by selecting 12 of my long list of UFOs that I was hoping to finish. Let's look back 4 projects completely finished 2 nearly there: one needs binding, one needs quilting and binding 1 with little progress (more blocks done) 5 with no progress... So I didn't graduate for my PhD in 2021 but I guess I was half way there! Celine

2022 Goals settings

I'm not sure how much sewing I should plan while my sewing space is not set up, hoping that this is the only reason why I haven't been able to do hardly anything in the last few months... but on the other hand, maybe it would help to have define projects to work on...  Anyway, beyond continuing to settle in our house and new environment, let's join Yvonne's Planning Party and look at what would be nice to achieve this year... I participated the last 3 years but I haven't necessarily been very successful... Quilts: 3 nearly finished that it would be nice to finish: Super Mario, Flabellum and Impromptu Quite a few projects need some work still, maybe I could progress 2 amongst Harry Potter, Boho Heart, Gipsy Wife, Farmer's Wife, 365 challenge, Dear Jane Maybe I will be tempted to start one or two new projects during the year, who knows... Dressmaking: Maybe this will be the year of finishing UFOs... Morgan jeans, Jasika Blazer, the Utility coat. I'd like to tr

Best of 2021

This year has been quite particular as I've hardly done any sewing since we moved house in the summer. I'm not really set up yet and I've not had much energy to sew either. Despite that in the first part of the year, I've managed a few projects/finishes and it is nice to take a look back for the Best of 2021 linky party with Cheryl. 1. The most made pattern - my collection of bags for teacher's gifts 2. The finished mini quilt 3. The finished UFO that became a parting gift for a good friend 4. The hand bag for my aunt 5. The long overdue dressing gown Linking to Best of 2021 Celine

A year of UFO busting

Image
If you read me regularly, you'll know that the big event that has marked this year for me has been put move from the UK back to France after 21 years. A major change that has required some planning and organising made quite difficult by the pandemic. And of course, moving after so long and after 16 years in the same house has required some serious decluttering in all areas, including sewing and crafting supplies. And of course while going trig my stash and boxes, I have unearthed a (large) number of UFOs in various degrees of completion. I had never really considered letting go of my UFOs until probably about last year. First I never thought anyone would be interested in some partly done projects from someone else. Well, I was wrong! So I took a good look at these projects that I hadn't touched for years before deciding if they realistically had any hope to be finished one day, and as a result were worth packing and moving with us. I posted on most of those throughout the yea

November in review

Not much sewing to report again this month... it's been busy for sure with planned and unplanned events throwing things up a little... I made a quick trip to London for work, came home to be declared contact case because someone in the office had covid. It was so weird to travel... but it was good to finally meet my colleagues, over a year after starting my new job! That lead to cancellation of the weekend away we had planned for our birthdays... we still had a cake, I suppose that's a consolation... Then my youngest caught covid so we were all contact cases and asked to minimise interactions so we mainly stayed home... despite all this time at home I hardly spent time sewing really. I did manage to only just get started on a bag I was hoping to have finished earlier in the month!  At least I cut all the pieces and started some of the sewing. Slowly, very slowly...   Linking to  November Furtle . Celine

December goals

Let's try to be realistic. December is always a busy month and I've really not found a new routine that allows me to find much sewing time since we've moved. So it's unlikely that this will be the month for it. Proof is that I'm writing my goals for the month when the first week is already gone... I even wondered whether I'll continue blogging etc but then thought it might help me find a new energy! Anyway rather than "goals" as such, here are some projects I'd really like to progress this month... Quilting 1.   Flabellum quilt - needs  binding  3. Super Mario quilt -  needs binding Dressmaking 1 .  Utility coat - need finishing 2. N urit coat 3. Kids PJs Bags 1. Remus bag -  this will be my   One monthly goal 2. Moonwake bag 3. Bag for my mum Cross-stitch 1. Grimm's Tales stitch along 2. Nutcracker
