Holiday work

Image
I did manage a little sewing while we were away on holidays. I finished 2 blocks for the Shabby Roses BOM: *SMILE* and *PEACE* that I had started at Christmas. Here they are (the colours on my pictures are quite dull probably because it was so grey this afternoon): I also got started on *TRUST*: On the way back, I picked up one Dear Jane triangle that I had prepared before going away and started the applique. No, you are not dreaming, I have indeed picked up my Dear Jane again. One triangle in progress: Do you remember my "Sweetie Bag"? Well this is what it looks like after my holidays... I had noticed a little while ago that one of my seam allowance wasn't right on the outside bag (near the middle of a square) and the edge of the fabric was showing ready to fray. I thought for a while about mending it by adding a strip to cover the issue but I wasn't pleased with the idea. So on the way back from holidays, while we were in the car and there wasn't much for...

More pictures of my last few projects

First there was the Maisy book for baby daughter for Christmas. I think she would have preferred a paper one that she could have eaten (she LOVES eating paper...). I have another panel left to make another book for a friend's baby. I think I might make it as a concertina book this time. Front cover: Inside: Back cover: Then I did the lovely "Santa Stop Here" hexies panel that Vicki designed for the Among the Gum Tree blog. I started stitching it a few days before Christmas when we could finally sit down in our flat in the Alps and not have to worry about travelling etc but I didn't manage to finish stitching on time for Christmas. Big boy got worried and said to me: " If you don't finish it in time for Christmas, will Santa still stop?" Santa did indeed stop by, he came down the mountains on his skis and gave us lots of chocolates before and during the lovely fireworks display. After a Christmas concert and some mulled wine, he came knocking at our do...

Best wishes for 2010

A quick post to wish you all the best for 2010. Thanks for stopping by in 2009 and I hope you'll come back again next year. I have been moderately busy, needle-wise during the Christmas holidays, finished one table runner, started 2 new Shabby Roses blocks, etc but I am not at home now so I can't post pictures yet. I'll tell you about our epic adventure as well soon. Celine

Baking tonight

Image
My bag is finished and I have even used it already. My Maisy book is finished as well, needs to be wrapped now. I haven't managed to take a picture of either yet. sorry you'll have to wait... Tonight I decided to bake some biscuits when I came home for work. I want to give handmade at Christmas and did some Lebkuchen that I cut with fancy Christmassy cookies cutters. They look nice and taste nice as well. I didn't have any almonds anymore so I used hazelnuts instead. I have made just over 100 so I should be able to give a few bags away. I also managed to sit at the sewing machine to quilt the table runner with the cats that I pieced in October. Do you remember this picture? Well it hadn't change since I took the picture over 2 months ago. I want to give it as a Christmas present so tonight I quilted it and prepared the binding that I will sew on tomorrow night hopefully. I am also trying to decide which hand sewing projects I could take with me on holidays because f...

My goodies have reached Australia

Image
My goodies from the Angel swap have now reached Australia and Narelle seems to have enjoyed what I sent. It is always a little bit scary when you send a surprise to someone you don't know but from what is published on the Internet .... Anyway I can now post a few pictures to show you what I made for her. First there was a " foldable shopping bag" that I made from a pattern by Sulky. This is the bag open and when you fold it, you only have a little pouch left that you can easily carry around with you at all time. I think it looks like a strawberry when it is folded. What do you think? Then I made a bookmark inspired from Jenny of Elefantz Shabby Roses BOM . Shabby rose was an indication I had from Narelle as to her taste And finally I made her a flower pincushion with some Laura Ashley fabrics that I thought she might like. Celine

some progress!

We went back home this extended week-end to pick up Maxime who had spent a week away with Grand-Ma. First time almost that he is going away for so long on his own. Of course they both had a fantastic time and no he didn't miss us and wasn't so keen to come back home! Not surprising when he went swimming a couple of time, went to the zoo , etc. And most importantly, didn't have to share Grand-Ma's attention with anybody at all, he had her all to himself, what a luxury when after 3 years as Mummy and Daddy's centre of the workd, you have to learn to share with your new baby sister. Life is so hard! The drive there and back is relatively long so I had time to do a little bit of sewing on the way. I started by the stitchery I have started a month ago (last time we went back). And I am proud to be finally able to show a picture of my first block from Jenny at Elefantz Shabby Roses BOM . I really like the design so I have decided to join in - rather late but never too lat...
