Autumn splendour

So today, on the last day of September and a glorious Autumn day, I did the last few stitches on my Autumn Plus quilt started before last week-end.

I received the fabric for the binding during the week so I cut it off and prepared my binding during the week.


 And yesterday afternoon, in preparation for my evening watching Downton Abbey (a great opportunity for hand stitching a binding on a quilt!), I machine stitched the binding strip to the front of the quilt. Well, the episode wasn't quite long enough as I got to about half way by the end of it. So I decided to skip some of the housework today to finish this quilt and here it is:

It makes me so happy that it is now finished and ready to be used/loved/cuddled with/shared... Probably because there are a lot of fabrics I really like in it. Probably because it has been a long time since I haven't finished a big size quilt. Probably because I have really enjoyed making this quilt, even if it was a race, you can read more about it here if you haven't already!

Not much left over with this quilt as this is the scrap from my binding strips and the rest of my quilting thread...

I can list my new quilt as an OPAM for September. My second one this month! I just realised that I didn't blog about the first which was a drawstring PE bag for Mr Cars.

I also finished a few more bee blocks at the week-end. Some + and x again and I am now all caught up with these blocks, ready for October!
