Espritpatch

Today was last of school here. Mr Cars went in with 2 little presents for the teacher and assistant. I used my BigShot to cut out the labels for the present. I really like how they turned out. I should remember to use my Sizzix more often really! Now what was inside the presents? Well I made some little pouches following the Orchard Tweed Pouch tutorial from the Zakka Sewing book. I had bought some lovely vintage linen a little while ago and thought that would be perfect for the pouch. Because the fabric was patterned, I used plain fabric for the corners and didn't applique any hexagons. I used the tutorial by Kelly to cover the ends of the zip. As you can see I made a pink version and a black one. Well I hope the teachers liked it! Celine

We had a busy today as we drove down to London (and back!) to apply for a passport for Baby Girl, always an experience but we can't go home without it. Anyway, it all went as well as it could despite the nearly 4 hours in the car... With so much time spent in the car, I managed to do some sewing of course. I made one hexie flower for the craft forum swap which will be on its way to Sandra very soon! She wanted a blue and cream flower. I have also started on my flowers for the Inchy Hexie Swap but these are not quite finished yet. When we finally got home tonight, I was quite tired and decided to sit down and do a little bit of sewing rather than rush around the house to do countless jobs... And that was good as I managed to finish one UFO! My first and only OPAM for the month... In November 2010, I participated in a swap for a candle mat. Earlier this month, I signed up (late) for Lenna's Vintage Cards swap . I haven't done such a swap before so I was a bit anxious but in the end, I had fun making my cards. So today I finally sent my envelope to Lenna with my 3 cards set for the swap, I hope it gets there in time as the deadline for the swap is 26 February. For the first card I made, I "dyed" the card with some tea as it was too white. I then used of the postcard provided by Lenna and some scraps of lace I had at home.  I wasn't too adventurous with the envelope just sticking a piece of the same pink lace on the side. For the second card, I found a vintage picture of Paris and also an old map of Paris. I had a lovely ribbon with travel words on it and corner stamps that I also used. I used the same ribbon and stamps on the envelope. For my last card, I used a vintage advertisement for shoes by BALLY that I covered with black organza and used some red lace to lift the card up.
