Espritpatch

The Seeing Stars sew-along is nearly, very nearly finished and I am still quite some way behind... so I have been very busy sewing stars and more stars in the last few days, in an attempt to catch up (dream!) and not let the top fall in the UFO black hole (reality? let's hope not!). I still have a few hours.. and frankly who needs sleep? (well.... me I think!) Anyway for now, I have finished all 11 of the classic stars The next group of stars were the "improv" stars and this is not a favorite for me.... let's just say I don't link improv at all. So I have done my own version of improv with a twisted star, 3 done for now, 6 more to go! And finally the little applique stars (28 of these are needed!). I picked the 5 branches one rather than 4 and digged into my scrap baskets for some old favorites. Still a few to cut but these should hopefully be relatively quick.  Now can I finish all the blocks and assemble the quilt top by tomorrow...

Slowly very slowly, I am catching up with my stars for the Seeing Stars sew-along. I have made the 4 pinwheel stars from week 3. I cut the fabric out at the begining of the month and it took me until the last weekend to finally finish sewing them together   And here are the 4 together! I have also cut all my fabric for the curved stars from week 2. Now to see how long it takes to sew them. Hopefully I can finish those before the end of the month. The quilt along finishes on 17th October. I wonder if I can finish my top by then... wish me luck.  And that gives me 6 blocks for September.  Linking to  Seeing stars quilt along pinwheel star Celine

This week is the first installment of Melissa's lovely quilt along and we are making BIG stars. I picked my fabric last week and after seeing a few sketches on Melissa's blog, I decided to completely change my mind! So here we are with a dark/black background and random fabric from my stash.... 3 massive stars in a star at 24', quite a stark contrast after the 365 blocks at 3' finish And with those 3 blocks, I have now 13 for August! Not much sewing during the week at the moment unfortunately. But I received my last 2 blocks to be able to finish my batik stars top! I grabbed the stars almost as soon as they arrived to add them to my final row. Of course I had to unpick one of the row that I added to the wrong end of my top (and I hate unpicking!) But now I am so proud that the centre of the quilt is FINISHED - 8 years after it was first started. This was my challenge for the Lazy Bums for August, probably why I picked it and felt comply to work on it! Now it needs a border, some quilting and a binding. Hoping this will not take another 8 years ;-) Nicki has challenged me to finish it by Christmas, let's see if I can meet her challenge! Happy Easter to you all with 2 lovely hens that the girls have done with their childminder. I am wondering whether the UK will have a white Easter as snow doesn't seem to be so far yet. Hopefully we shouldn't get any in Barcelona. With the very cold and long winter, I am really hoping to get a bit of sunshine and warmth!
