These 2 were partially cut already a wrote ago but it's only this par weekend that I finally sat and completed them.  Block 46 [Hill and Valley] Block 80 [Single Wedding Star] 2 more blocks for my Farmer's Wife quilt and my first 2 blocks of April. Farmer's Wife

Image
Before the holidays, I finally cut out one new block for the Farmer's Wife quilt 39 [Friendship] that I completed on our return While sewing #39, I also cut out and worked on another block 30 [End of Day] since both could be made without templates. For this one, I decided to simplify the construction, constructing squares out of 2 strips and making HSTs out of the squares. The fabric placement is different from the book but I figured that this is my interpretation of the quilt and it would be fine this way.  Next on my list were those 3 blocks with the first 2 being very similar in design [28] Duck and Ducklings [32] Farmer's Daughter [33] Famer's Puzzle This one gave me lots of trouble, I think I probably unpicked every single seam at least once. And I am still not happy with it as the central piece didn't match... I unpicked again but I am not sure it is better, I won't touch it anymore now.. . That's 5 more blocks for February and now 57 blocks for my FW qu...

Farmer's Wife

Image
Another long-abandoned project out today. I started the Farmer's Wife quilt with a view to gift it to my mum for her 60th birthday. She'll soon be 70 and the quilt is far from finish. Going through the box, I have 52 blocks completed. The full quilt has 111 so I am not even half way but not far either... Here are all the blocks together: Will I find some motivation and finish it all this year? I would love to gift it to my Mum for her 70th... Few more blocks

Image
Little by little, I will get there! But I must admit I have been more drawn towards clothes making against this month. Anyway I did squeeze another 3 Farmer's Wife 1930 blocks, only 3 but 3 more... and with just under a week until the end of May, who knows, I might reach 10 blocks this month! For now, meet #22 Cat #25 Crystal and #40 Grandmother, which was a bit fiddly with the Y-seams That gives me 9 blocks this month. Celine

Patchwork blocks

Image
I can't believe it is over a month since I had sewn any patchwork blocks. There is some serious competition for my free time between dressmaking and patchwork! Anyway, after finishing my orsola dress, I picked up my Farmer's Wife 1930 blocks in an attempt to keep it going somehow. We had a glorious week-end with lots of sunshine and an extra day as Monday was bank holiday plus we had some company as my Mum came over. I sneaked a Iittle sewing time here and there and managed to make 6 blocks over the week-end, which I am really happy about, even if they are not all perfect (3/4' squares and HST are fiddly!) 17 Bride 18 Carol 19 Carolina 29 Doris 30 Em 31 Eva No particular reason for making those blocks other than I had the paper piecing patterns already printed out. 6 blocks so f ar this month, let's hope I can keep the momentum going and carry on! One more lonely block for the Farmer's Wife quilt, which means I am about to lose the race again.... I completed 15 Blossom. I now have all the blocks 1-16 but of course I need to get going... and pretty fast too. Celine

This is #6 April #7 Augusta #9 Autumn and #10 Ava And these are the first 12 blocks. 4 blocks so far in February. Sadly no sewing has happened since last week-end. Linking to Let's Bee Social Celine

I finally had time to get back to the Farmer's Wife 1930 sew along this week, as I fell off the bandwagon after one week. I made 3 blocks this week. Block #3 Alice Block #4 Ann Block #5 Anne Hoping to catch up by the end of next week but not sure that will be possible! With those 3 blocks, I have made 8 in January. Celine

Farmer's Wife 1930, a revival

Image
About 2 years ago, I joined Angie 's sew along (probably my first one with her) to make the Farmer's Wife 1930 quilt (with the secret hope/utopia) to finish both this one and the previous one. Well, of course, that didn't go according to plan and I ended up with yet another UFO. I made a grand total of 14 blocks (!) out of the 99 required for the full quilt.... Angie is running the sew-along again (mainly on Facebook) this year (started this week), with 2 blocks a week made in numerical order. Easy enough to follow really. So I picked up my pile of blocks again and decided it was now or ? I can proudly present you #1 Addie and #2 Aimee And that gives me 2 more blocks for January taking my total to 5 so far! Let's hope I can keep the pace! Celine

Making blocks

I have made a few more blocks over the last few weeks but I haven't had time to blog! A rainbow Trip Around the  World block the Plus a Star block 4 little Churn Dash blocks (17 more needed!) and A Courthouse Steps block for next week! That's 12 more blocks for the 350-blocks challenge taking my total to 20! Linking to  Let's Bee Social ,  Needle and Thread Thursday ,  I may have a scrap problem Celine

Back in the saddle

Image
After catching up on the Project 48 Quilts blocks last month, I have decided to focus again on the second project I had listed on my 100 Days Challenge list . The 100 days will be up in the middle of the month already so it would be just nice to report progress on a second project! So here it is, I have picked up my Farmer's Wife blocks again... and I must say it has gone slower than I planned/expected but life and work are a bit crazy just now. Anyway, I have made a few blocks: 17 [Cats and Mice] 18 [Century of Progress] finished is better than perfect will be the mantra here.... of and I have squeezed a few Long Time Gone blocks too so as not to fall off the wagon! 2 more Jacob's Ladder blocks A slow (?) start of the month with just 4 blocks so far. Celine
