  I am so happy that I have managed just a little sewing this week despit my injury. Not much really but 3 more paper piecing blocks are finished. One more thimble One Mini Alphabet block, the only one so far... and a mini tea cup block Can you believe that there are 13 pieces of fabric in this piece?   Not much sewing time again the last 2-3 weeks and this has mainly be due to lack of time/too much work... I had completed the train block but wasn't happy with it so I unpicked it and remade it this week.  With this block finished, I can complete the third row of the top. I also started on the top row "Harry Potter" and had spent quite some time 2 week-ends ago cutting the pieces with little fabric to spare... only to realise that I had only cut out "Harry"... This block is actually half of the top row so counts for two really!  I don't have enough of the blue or the gold left for the other half so I am going to have to write Potter in different fabrics!  Progress on this UFO is much slower than I was expecting but I am really trying to keep at it. I guess I average about "one" block a week at the moment and I don't think I'll manage to get faster any time soon. Last week I only managed to sew one time, this week has been better with 4 da...

  Very slowly I am making progress on my Harry Potter UFO. I finished Hogwarts crest at the week-end, just in time for the Quidditch tournament that was held in our town! One more block for the top but quite a few still to go! Hopefully soon as I am happy to be able to report that I have managed 5 days of sewing this last week, a great improvement after I didn't manage more than one day a week for the whole of February.   A break from bag making! Some time ago, while I was going through my UFOs etc, I digged out the blocks for my Impromptu Quilt, with the aim to finish the top to send it for quilting. The top finishes at 90'' square so it is too big for my own frame and after sending my Flabellum for quilting, I thought it would be a good idea to send this one too. The only problem was that 1) the top wasn't anywhere near ready to go 2) I am pressed with time with the house move Anyway, Kerry kindly agreed to squeeze it into her schedule if I sent it by mid-July. So that was my target and I knew I'd have to stick to it. I first finished the 13 disappearing 9-patch blocks over a few evenings. And after that it was a matter of assembling the 25 squares into one big top, before adding the borders 2 week-ends ago .  The backing came from my stash and pressing it during a heatwave wasn't the best time, but never mind, but my parcel was ready to go just in time. I took it to the post off...

  In 2016, I joined the Modern HST quilt-along with Alyce . I didn't quite follow through but eventually caught up with the blocks in January 2019 . I had all but one block done and a problem: I didn't have enough background fabric left for the last block.  I searched online, ordered some, my order was cancelled because the fabric was out of stock. I launched an appeal online but never got any reply. So I was stuck with 23 blocks, not sure what to do to finish it off.  And finally earlier this month, I decided that I could make the top with 20 blocks and use the 3 extra for the back. Finally this week I found the blocks and the rest of the fabric and started laying it all up. I also found a few extra HST that I decided I could arrange into one last block to be back to the original plan of 24 blocks. So I made this block with a mix of 3'' and 4'' HSTs.  And then I laid all the blocks on the floor... and decided that maybe a square quilt 5x5 would be nicer so may...

Last top finished, first one quilted? Well yes! That was not the original plan but since I ran out of thread for my bear on Saturday night, I figured I should take it off the frame and replace it with another quilt for which I had enough thread to last the week-end! So on came the Retro Tetro quilt top. For this one, I had planned to use same colours as the fabric, which of course, meant changing threads very often! I used an all-over quilting motif for the top and used up so many bobbins.       I really like how the quilting brings depth to a quilt, it really transforms it I think. It needs trimming and it needs a binding but maybe this one can be finished before the year is over! Quilted mainly with King Tut threads and also some Aurifil and another one I found in my box! When the Halo Quilt Along was announced back in March, I had all intentions to join in with the fun. I ordered the book, printed the template and set on using my stash of Liberty fabrics. But I worked on other projects and never got started...  Finally earlier this month, I got my box of Liberty out and went through those packs of scraps I had bought over the years to start cutting the pieces.  Cutting always take forever but in a way sometimes it is quite therapeutic when tired/fed up/exhausted etc... So I have quietly and slowly been doing some cutting on the evenings when there was so time left before bed time. I haven't got all the pieces I need yet and crucially I haven't decided on the arcs fabric yet but I will hopefully soon be ready to start piecing. I guess the sew-along is nearly over now but never mind, I'll go at my own pace.... it is not a race after all.... Linking to   Monday Design Wall ,  Monday Making ,  Wednesday Wait Loss ,...

Yes I know it is yet another pyjamas and from the same 11th hour gear pattern too! but I could not leave one child out of 3 without a homemade pyjama! This time I used the joggers pattern for the bottom And the same t-shirt pattern than the other 2 I made her pyjamas out of very soft jersey I bought a year ago  And of course she loves her new pyjama too! All 3 have their own me made pyjamas now.  I need to make more as I bought so much fabric for pyjama last year but it should be easy enough now I have found a good pattern.  And that's one more OPAM for October, which has been a very productive month! And one off my Q4 FAL list.  Celine

Do I need a new project? I know I hear you laughing... of course I do not. Will I start a new project? Of course I will not (whisper: well maybe I will!) In any case, I'll help whoever might be reading my blog with a public announcement! There are 2 new quilt-alongs that I am considering at the moment. The first one is a Dresden quilt one. It starts on 8 August and honestly, it does look so good, doesn't it? One block a week for 26 weeks, how difficult can that be? Head over to Susan's website to find out more! The second one is as much a quilt-along as a UFO busting challenge in my case...  so I would definitely need to join! Angie is starting a Farmer's Wife quilt-along  on 24 August 2018. I started this project over 5 years ago with the aim to make the quilt for my mother's 60th birthday and of course this didn't happen.... So maybe I can finish it for her 70th... I am sure I will not keep up with the rhythm of this one (as I have magnificently failed...
