  I am so happy that I have managed just a little sewing this week despit my injury. Not much really but 3 more paper piecing blocks are finished.   A few weeks back, a new sew along started to sew fussy cut mini thimbles with Happy Sew Lucky. I was hoping to keep the pace but failed miserably. I nearly made the first 2 blocks on time and then completely got lost... Finally this week I've finished 4 little thimbles I'm hoping I can make a few more here and there...  I haven't really posted anything new for so long but finally! Block #24 is finished and also block #25 Which means the last row could be put together And added to the other 4 rows. And with that my quilt top is complete! 🎉🎉 Now starts the joy of removing the papers... before one day finishing it!   I have finally made another block for the Modern City Scape sew-along, which is now over. I am determined to finish the top before it has a chance to fall in the UFO pile! This is block #21, which had sooo many pieces!  4 more to go and I will have all the blocks done.  80%! The quilt along is long finish and I'm lagging behind but at least I'm still behind!!  I made block #20 this last week, after weeks not turning my machine on. I was hoping to make more than one block but a migraine on Friday decided otherwise. So here it is block 20: And with block 20, I can finish row 4! 5 more blocks and I'll have the top finished. With the lack of sewing time lately I have fallen behind quite badly of the various quilt-along.  Last month, I only made one block for Modern City Scape, block #18. I also started on block #19 but didn't finish it. And block #19 I have attached all 3 blocks of Row #4 together. I had completed blocks #16 & 17 in May but never got around to post them here.   Time for a post dedicated to this quilt-along as we have just completed block #15 this week With this block, row 3 is complete and we have 60% of the quilt top already.  I am really enjoying this one I must admit, even though there qre plenty of pieces and lots of colours too so it requires some concentration, i.e. there has been a fair share of unpicking!   I was planning/hoping to catch up on blocks #6 & #7 before we went on holidays but I ended making all the pieces but not managing to assemble them all. I managed to finish them both just after we came back from holidays and to sew them together. I also got started on block #8 but it is not complete yet.  Still need to get going on block#9 which was released this week. Wow il just caught up with the Modern City Scape blocks as the next one is coming out.  I had finished block #4 last week and added it to the first 3 And I finished block #5 on Saturday  But when I prepared to join block 5 to the first 4 blocks I noticed I hadn't assembled block 5 correctly, another one! The panel on the right should have been on the left.... And looking more closely, I noticed the same mistake in block 4 plus the bottom right courber had been sewn upside down.... Yes, I know, this is yet another project that I start this year... anyway, I bought the pattern so better make the quilt and use my stash, right? There was a lot of paper cutting (50+ pages of patterns!) and some careful colour/fabric planning before I cut start sewing but now the fun part has started!  I really love this pattern by Quilt Art Design. It is a 25 weeks quilt along but you get the pattern from the beginning so can go faster or slower. I have started 2 weeks late really but have now caught up with Block 1 Block 2  Difference in light and background between the 2 pictures make the colours in the blocks appear quite different. Already a lot of pieces sewn together! 😀 I also completed the Birthday block for this week, so at least I am up to date with this quilt along too!   Another week, another finish. I am sure I won't sustain that rhythm for very long but let's make the most of it while it last! I picked up my mini Storm at Sea top that had been ready for quilting since last January and had re-joined the UFO pile. I had originally started the piecing in 2010 , not sure why it took me so long to finally get back to it really! I found a very nice fabric in my stash, one that had been there for over 15 years for sure.  The quilting is a very straight forward stitch in the ditch, with my favorite King Tut's thread. As for the binding, another fabric from my stash, a batik this time, to keep with the top, that I finished hand sewing yesterday. One less UFO in my pile and one more crossed off my PhD list . And I can happily report that I spent at least 4x15 minutes in the sewing room this week working on this UFO. My mini is assembled now!  What's left is to take out all the papers at the back and to quilt and bind it. It wasn't so bad really, not sure why I parked this project for so long.. Linking to  Design Wall Monday,   Monday Making Celine

  It is still early in the year so I'm still trying to stay focused. First project I've picked up to work on is a very old UFO  (>10 years). I started this paper pieced Storm at Sea at the time I used to attend a local quilting group (i.e. before I had 3 children!).  It's all been packed ever since, not quite sure why as it was a rather small project. Anyway since I listed it on my UFO list for this year and I knew where to find it (always a bonus!), it got some airing time last week... the bigger blocks were all completed,  the rectangle blocks were half sewn but all the fabric was already cut and only 1 square was available with fabric cut for half of the blocks.  Finishing the rectangles didn't take very long Neither did the little squares Now all that is left is to assemble all the pieces to get a small wall hanging. Maybe it will get to that stage before the end of the month? With that, I have already completed 28 blocks this month, quite a good start! L...

  This block seems to have taken forever... admittedly there were lots of pieces but the Tardis block is finished! My third block for the Fandom in stitch quilt along. I also noticed that on the D-0 block there was one seam where the fabric was too short so I had a hole in the seam. I unpicked the piece that was too short, not sure that was the best idea actually... I have managed to slot a piece back in the big hole by sewing the straight seam but all the other seams look quite difficult to sew back on the machine so I will probably sew it back by hand.  And I also made the 2 Tolkien blocks I had selected, those were much easier and quicker because they had far less pieces . The eye of Auron and the Arkenstone That's it for those blocks for now. I haven't yet find any other that have taken my fancy but there will be more for sure! Finally... a mini top ready for quilting. I started the (paper) piecing about one year ago after failing to join the sew-along in 2019 when I initially bought the pattern. I retrieved all the pieces earlier this year, and I was happily surprised that there were a lot of parts already completed. There are so many pieces in this mini quilt top. And now, a few weeks later, the final stitches are in and the mini is completed.  Of course it still needs quilting but hopefully this won't take forever! The second block I picked for the Fandom in Stitches quilt-along was much more involved, lots of tiny pieces and lots of pieces overall. It took quite a look time to make and also quite a few times of unpicking because I had used the wrong colour or pieced the wrong section together. But it is finally done, here is the droid  D-0,  Week 2 was about  Doctor Who  and I picked Tardis, again an intricate block that I haven't yet finished. Week 3 is about The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, hitting on popular shows for this house (well not for me though!) While working on this new project, I also retrieved a project that I pushed away last year. I had plenty of sub-pieces done for the Sewing Studio banner I started in March last year. When I got all the pieces out again, I realised I had quite a lot of sections completed, so I decided to assemble them and then to finish those that were nearly there. It is nice to now see it take shape. Plus there aren't that many pieces...

  I know, I know, January is not over and already I am starting a new project instead of concentrating on my huge list of UFO. Well, this one was on my 2021 Planning Party list... so far so good, right? I have been watching the sew-along/patterns/quilts on the Fandom in Stitches blog for a long time and have thought that one day I would make one or more... With the announcement of the 10th Anniversary Multi-Fandom Bookcase quilt-along , I thought it would be a perfect time to jump in. The quilt-along is a mix and match so there are a few blocks to choose from each week. The fun started over a week ago with Star Wars and I picked 2 blocks: Darth Wader Lightsaber to start with, a rather easy block! and D-0, a much more intricate block, which I am still in the process of making.
