Busy week-end

Image
As I hinted in my previous post, yesterday was a lovely and busy day. I managed to piece 2 table runners: a Christmas one for us. The squares I used in the centre are the same one that I used for the Scrappy Christmas blocks swap I did in August. and a close-up at the fabric: and a Cat one, which will probably be a Christmas present for my mother-in-law. I bought the cat fabric a few years back to use the square to make postcards and I have made... one card to date! and a close-up at the fabric: Of course there are not finished but I enjoyed making the tops AND I used all fabrics from my stash which is quite nice. Today I went to an exhibition held by the Icknield Quilters Group . It was really nice with a good variety of lovely quilts. I was very impressed by a quilt made with Dear Jane blocks from 4' to 1' (no, it isn't a typo). Can you see the 4 blocks in the center of star, they are 1' each. I am sorry I can't remember the name of the lady who made it ...

some progress!

We went back home this extended week-end to pick up Maxime who had spent a week away with Grand-Ma. First time almost that he is going away for so long on his own. Of course they both had a fantastic time and no he didn't miss us and wasn't so keen to come back home! Not surprising when he went swimming a couple of time, went to the zoo , etc. And most importantly, didn't have to share Grand-Ma's attention with anybody at all, he had her all to himself, what a luxury when after 3 years as Mummy and Daddy's centre of the workd, you have to learn to share with your new baby sister. Life is so hard! The drive there and back is relatively long so I had time to do a little bit of sewing on the way. I started by the stitchery I have started a month ago (last time we went back). And I am proud to be finally able to show a picture of my first block from Jenny at Elefantz Shabby Roses BOM . I really like the design so I have decided to join in - rather late but never too lat...

Chatting and having fun but not much done!

My friend came over from France with her 6-month old son, spending the last 2 days with me. We had fun catching up, chatting and doing not much with 3 children up to 3! Her son is really lovely but so much bigger than my daughter. It is amazing how much difference 2 months can make at his age! Charlotte is actually 4 month today! Before she came, I had managed to finish the top of my little quilt for the June's challenge from the BQL list. Just need quilting and finishing off. Just for you now, here is the picture of this work in progress: This month on the blocklotto , we are choosing our blocks (traditionnal) but they have to be made with 30s fabrics and WOW as a background. I have choosen which blocks I will make now: 3 shoo-flys which were one of the monthly block a couple of months ago, 3 churn dash and 3 friendship stars. Patterns will be adapted from the quilterscache website from Marcia Hohn's free patterns. This is a great resource for quilters with thousands of bloc...
