Bear

November had started as a rather productive month for me while hubby was floored with Covid. But then unsurprisingly, I caught Covid too and I wasn't able to do much as I was so so tired and slept a lot.  So there has been virtually no sewing at all last week. I was hoping to make up for it at the week-end, but I was still very tired with virtually no energy on Saturday and didn't do much then either. I did eventually start playing with the strips of fabric I had cut out the previous week-end from 3 of hubby's summer shirts that he was no longer wearing. And little by little by log cabin started to grow into this cute bear. All it needs now is to be quilted before I can trim it off. Lovely pattern by Ira Rott . New projects

I was so happy to finish my last Threadology blocks that I decided to reward myself and start one or maybe two new projects.... I joined the Alison Glass mini series quilt along with its tiny mini paper-pieced blocks. First one is a log cabin with logs that are less than 1/4' wide! I finished my first block and I love it but I'm worried that the Oakshott fabric might fray so I'm thinking of changing for a more tighter woven fabric. I also started a project from a pattern/  sew along  from last year:  Sewing Studio banner .  I bought and printed the pattern at the time but didn't go any further with it.... There are lots of sub-blocks so I should be there for a while! Linking to M onday Design Wall ,   Wednesday Wait Loss ,  Midweek Makers ,    Needle and Thread Thursday . Celine

A new project....

Oh I know I shouldn't....even more so at this time of year... but I just couldn't resist the cuteness and I love the idea behind the Advent Sew Along. Now I have only started yesterday so of course I am already 5 blocks behind... but who knows I might eventually catch up. Really what's not to love in this so cute hexie log cabin, 2 of my favorite patterns These are - oh so small - despite the 22 pieces of fabric required for one block. The logs are 3/8' finished! Great scrap buster, even for tiny scraps. And this is my first completed block for this month! If you would like to play along too, it's not to late, go over lovely Croix Patch blog to find the information and the pattern. I want to make some bubbles, do you want to play with me?

Ever since I have seen Aylin's bubbles on Instagram, I have wanted to make some too. Photo from Aylin's pattern website After all the bubbles are made of Log cabins and I love Log Cabins. Aylin started a bee on Flicker and I was too slow and missed the sign up unfortunately :-( I am not sure how it happened but anyway I woke up too late to join her group. So after reposting on Instagram, I agreed to run another bee to make bubbles too. Now the consensus for the new bee is not to start right now (everyone seem over-committed with bees and swaps etc) so I have proposed a starting date of January 2016. I know this sounds very far but I don't think anyone will be interested/have time to start too close to Christmas. And if people want to start sewing earlier, there is nothing to stop them really! Anyway I have opened a new Flicker group for the bee and prepared a sign up form . So if you would like to play along, please join me (I can't do a bee by myself :-) )...
