Espritpatch

I could call this one an unfinished finish.... I cut this Ogden cami while cutting a batch of hankies earlier in the month. The cotton fabric was just too pretty to be reduced to hankies only! And the Ogden is an old favourite! I spent quite some time last weekend to sew it up, all finished with French seams.  Of course I used the appropriate label too!  I was quite pleased with it... until I tried it on. It looked absolutely awful on me. It was too tight at the front on my bust. As for the back there's far too much material and it's dragging. I was so disheartened that I threw it to one side.... I picked it up in the week and removed all the French seams which has loosened the seams a little. It looks better at the front but I suspect I need a sway back adjustment or something else. So this finished top will eventually come apart completely.... not sure how much I'll be able to salvage.... I have made a few Ogden before but I guess the fabric was draping...

Last week, I finished all the blocks for the Threadology Quilt-Along from last year on the Fat Quarter Shop blog, so the next step was to put them all together. Because I sew all the blocks from my scrap baskets with no thoughts on the colour arrangement or final layout. I started laying the blocks following the pattern set but my colours didn't work well together so I changed it to my liking I digged deep into my stash to find some fabric for the borders.  And the backing of the quilts is pieced too with the remaining big squares so again I digged into my stash to make it. The quilt top and backing are ready for quilting next time I get the frame out, which I am hoping is not in the too distant future. This was my project for the   One monthly goal , which I am happy to have completed to this point. Linking to Whoop Whoop Friday . Celine

Finally just in time, the stars quilt from the Sewing Stars Quilt Along is finished and gifted! And I think she liked it 😊 This was my first time trying quilt as you go. I squared up my 4 big blocks after finishing quilting, and of course it was a little tricky because quilting made the pieces shrink a bit. And in the tutorial on Stitched in colour blog , a 3/8' seam allowance to assemble the blocks is recommended. That meant that I lost some of my points but hopefully it will be more resistant. At the difference of a quilt that is done at once with this method,  the backing fabric still need to be added once the quilted pieces are assembled.  And the backing fabric needs to be secured to the top. I quilted in the ditch in a few places befire adding the binding fabric, again with a 3/8' seam allowance. I am not sure I am really sold on this method but it is a good one when the top to be quilted is too big for the frame. I'm not sure if I'll try again or n...

Finished in time to be gifted! I started this quilt on 25 June by making the chop stick, all from my stash! and I picked some for their designs specifically for my friend  Then the strips were chopped off and separated by triangles made of some lovely Modern Background by Zen Chic  to get the quilt top  2 borders later and it was time for quilting A view of the quilting on the back (where unfortunately I have puckers :-( Binding in a rare UK heat wave.... And here it is my finished Chop Stick quilt!
