July has gone fast and slow at the same time! Lots of work, interviews, waiting games, thinking and decisions. And as result, little energy, little motivation and little sewing. I have managed to clear little parts of the house and some of my sewing room too. I have managed to sell/donate stuff which always feel good but of course, there is still sooo much to do. Anyway, on the sewing front, I finished the string quilt which was a very long time UFO. A slow start on my Halo Quilt: cutting is not finished yet but I started sewing the central units. The binding is now on my Vintage Kitchen Quilt, just need to sew it by hand on the back. And I picked a dressmaking UFO that I started last year: a Deer and Doe Sirocco jumpsuit. Last year I made the first one in 3 hours altogether. This year I have been so slow working on this piece, not sure why but every step seem so much effort (it is not!). Linking to July Furtle . The quilt-along started in April but I only managed to join last month by starting to cut pieces of fabric. I have't cut everything out yet but I started sewing earlier this month for a little diversity.  I started by framing the 24 squares with 2 triangles and then with 2 more. Only to realise that I had cut out far too many triangles (and I just hate it when that happen... but never mind, it is only fabric after all. OK precious, lovely Liberty lawn fabric in this case 😉😱😢) I now have the 24 centre squares. Next step is to add the rounded parallelogram on the side of the squares And I have sewn 2 on either side of the squares for now Once I finished this step with the 4 pieces, I will need to audit my stash to find a fabric for the arcs. I am planning to cut them out from possibly just one or  a handful of fabric. I was thinking stripes but I don't think I have what I need. Slow and little progress, but progress nonetheless. I still find it very difficult to find some sewing time. Either I am spending my evenings looking for a job or, when I am not, I find myself lacking motivation, energy, brain space to do anything at all. I am lucky that I have had interviews and am progressing with a few companies for now until I get finally an offer that works for me and for all but it is rather a draining process.  Anyway, over a few sessions, I have finally managed to sew the binding down on this long-time UFO.  The string blocks came from a swap I did on Flicker in January and March 2012. I picked them up and made the  top  in February 2019 And I finally quilted the top, with a variety of designs back in May, almost as a "lesson in free-motion quilting".  I went through my sewing room to find all the bits of strips I could find to make the binding and used fabric I had in my stash for the backing. Quilt stats: 7 x 8 blocks from 2 swaps in 2012 Backing and bin...

Although the summer "holidays" are going to start soon, I am not sure whether they will feel like a holiday.... Today is supposed to be the last school day for the kids and I should have been spending the last week frantically finishing gifts for the teachers. Apart that school has been suspended since March... They'll have 6 weeks off and we will have 2 with them trying to think about something else. My long list will stay very long but I really don't know how much time/energy/desire to sew I will have in the next 3 months. Hopefully enough to pick up and finish a project... or two. Quilts: 1.  Modern HST triangles - 1 block missing to have enough for a quilt top but very little background fabric -  only one block left to do now  2. Project 48 quilt with a few Solstice challenge blocks (all blocks done, might need a few more???) 3. Farmer's Wife (not half way yet....)   4.  Farmer's Wife 1930 - only 24 blocks done 5. Half of the year is gone and what a time it has been.... When I posted my Q2 FAL list, we had just started the lockdown, not knowing how long this was going to last. The lockdown is (slowly?) being lifted here and the new normal being established. In the meantime, I have also been told that I will lose my job in the next couple of weeks so of course I have been very busy looking for another one. All in all, although we have spent so much more time at home where I could probably have sewn a lot more, I have quite often lack the motivation or the energy to do just that... I guess this uncertainty is taking its toll on every one and we just have to accept that things are different and there is little visibility as to what direction we need to follow for now. I have had some productive streaks though and I did manage to progress a few projects but a lot of them will carry through my Q3 list.
