Birdies blocks

Image
While emptying a set of draws before our move, I found another long abandonned UFO, my blocks for the Birdie Stitches blocks by Corey Yoder or Coriander Quilts from.... 2011. Yes I know that's 10 years ago. I did quite well with the stitching since I completed 10 of the 12 blocks. The last one was nearly done too but not quite...  And I had left out block 11 (from November) because it had a turkey for Thanksgiving and I wanted something else more European, which I never got around to do. I had also cut some of the squares for the borders of the blocks but not all of them. Based on the amount of work  left and the fact that I had not touched it for so many years, I decided it was safe to let it go to someone that might h opefully give it the love it deserves and get finished one day.  Another one bites the dust! Finally,  I have finished a quilt! There wasn't much left really, just about half of the border that needed to be sewn by hand before we moved. And then we moved... I had packed the quilt into a suitcase rather than a box to retrieve it quicker. But I hadn't packed hand sewing needles or any energy/ motivation... And finally last week, I did the last few stitches on the binding to have a finished quilt! Just one year after I started it with the sew along. The top was pieced last autumn. I had planned to quilt it in December but my machine broke down so that didn't happen... It was finally quilted in April this year. The binding was on sometimes on Spring. Another very busy month here but sadly no sewing or anything remotely crafty... all my sewing supplies are still in the same boxes...  School has started for all 3 children and we've had to get into a new routine. They seem to have taken to the new rhythm and have made new friends, which is great news really. It wasn't an easy transition for them, having studied in an English system and moving to a French one. Beyond the language it's very different. With that I didn't do anything remotely creative. I found my snowflake quilt to finish off but I haven't touched it yet. I don't know where my hand sewing needles are so I bought some new ones last week.  Linking to  September Furtle . Celine

I really doubt my sewing machine will make it out of her box before the end of the month sadly, my sewing space is nowhere near ready to be set up and there are much bigger priorities to deal with. Maybe I will at least find the time to work on some hand sewing projects, as long as I can locate the necessary supplies....   What can I say? For sure it has been a VERY BUSY month! Changing country after 21 years and in time of Covid is not a small feast but we made it....  We arrived just over a month ago and time has been busy. Sadly not with any sewing or anything remotely crafty... all my sewing supplies are in boxes...  and they will probably be for a while to come, at least until the dust has settled and we have more or less made our house a home.  I do have some little projects I could work on but I have had no time and zero motivation. The only time I held a needle last month was while on the train trip to go on holidays (one precious week on the Mediterranean coast in the sunshine!) where I did a little (just a little!) cross-stitch. Let's hope I get some creative energy back at some point in the not so distant future but for now, it feels that there are much bigger projects to tackle. Linking to August Furtle . Celine

Does it even make sense to make a list for August? Our house is about to be packed up so ready to cross the Channel and set home in France. I guess my main occupation will be unpacking and setting up everything in our new house. I doubt the sewing corner will the first to be ready but who knows? Anyway, I guess I could have some hand-sewing on the list, as long as I am able to find projects, needle and thread... as well as a little energy!
