October Furtle

Well, compared to last month I have at least something to report. Whether my sew-jo is back, the question remains open... I eased back into sewing by fixing the sleeve of a blouse I made last year that had become undone. Didn't take long, probably took longer to decide to finally tackle it! Next on my list was to unpick and redo the hem of my Aquarius dress, still not perfect but much better now. I still haven't taken pictures with the dress and now winter has come I'm not sure when I'll do it! I also finally cut the binding for my Impromptu quilt. It's on and needs to be hand sewn, I'm probably half way through now.  I also stich a tiny little bit on my Christmas cross stitch, hopefully more soon and I attached 1 DJ block to another 2, all while travelling to Lisbon for a work conference.  And finally I cut 3 PJs and sew 2! I nearly forgot, I also went to a fabric fair and bought a few bits and pieces, hoping to make some Christmas presents... Linking to Octobe...

Winter PJs

I had to move most of my dressmaking fabric stash recently as well as my boxes of leftover which I've discovered got wet during one of the cellar flooding... sadly some of the pieces now have stains but I've washed most of them now and went through them to work out what I should get rid off.  I found leftover jersey pieces from PJs I made to my eldest daughter about 5 years ago, too childish for her now but I thought I'd try to make a PJ for her sister (who is older than she was at the time!).    Cutting the 2 pairs of PJs out of the leftovers was quite a challenge but I got most pieces out, but a few. I complimented the pattern pieces with a piece of leftover solid black which I found in the same box too.  I've only managed to sew one of the 2 I cut earlier in the month.  She's slept in her new PJ once and told me it had a hole at the back of the trousers. When I looked closely, I realised the fabric was damaged there and had lots of tiny hole...

So after a month with no sewing at all, I am really wondering whether it is even worth trying to make a list for this month. Will I have any sewing time, will I have any energy or motivation to create anything? I guess I could just copy and paste last month's post or maybe it needs to change a little to sparkle some creativity. Qui lting 1 .  Impromptu quilt - I have cheated with this one by trimming it and putting on the bed, without the binding so we have been enjoying it already but it would be so very nice to finish it properly.... I should really at least cut the binding and sew it on, I will keep it as  my   One monthly goal 2.  Dear Jane - hoping to finish row E, all the blocks are cut now. 3. Farmer's Wife - maybe I can pick this one up and make more blocks.  Dressmaking 1 .  Aquarius dress - this one was "finished" for my daughter's Communion in June but needed some fixing so I have unpicked the hem and fixed the rest. I would really like to finish...

September Furtle

So September is over or nearly... and what have I got to report? well nothing... zero... no sewing for me for weeks now. I haven't turned up my machine at all, I haven't stitched anything by hand either. Nothing, just a big blank page... Partly it was like of time, partly lack of energy and partly no motivation really. The month has for sure been very busy with school starting back. And as we thought might happened, it has been far from straightforward so of course that's taken quite a lot of time and energy.  I had planned/hoped to go to the Carrefour European of Patchwork in Alsace. I had even booked my train tickets but ended up having to cancel it all. I was secretely hoping that going would bring my sew-jo back.... well, maybe I'll go next year! Linking to September Furtle . School will be back very soon here so I'm hoping we'll quickly fall back in a routine and get some normality back after what has been a difficult year last year. No doubt there will still be challenges but hopefully we're in the right path again. Lots of issues to deal with still but I am really planning to try and follow Katy's encouragement to do something sewing related every day.  Qui lting 1 .  Impromptu quilt - I have cheated with this one by trimming it and putting on the bed, without the binding so we have been enjoying it already but it would be so very nice to finish it properly....  Let's make it my   One monthly goal 2.  Dear Jane - hoping to finish row E 3. I would really like to finish the hem this month be...

August Furtle

As I mentioned in my previous post, a good chin of the month has been spent travelling abroad so there has been some hand sewing time while I was far from home. Sadly I haven't really turned on my sewing machine much since we came back, apart to hem my daughter's curtain (and I'm glad I did it straight away rather than pushing it for later!!) Before we went I made a few more scrappy baskets And I also made a new pair of PJ for hubby, overcoming my Cricut fear! And while travelling I finished assembling my first 4 Dear Jane rows, completed block E5 and added to row E and started on block E9 and E13. I also made 6 blocks for my Mischief quilt.  And stitched a tiny little more on my cross stitch project Quite a productive month overall, if I say so myself! Linking to August Furtle . Céline

Little more progress

We are back from pour holidays in Canada and the normal rush of work/kids/house is un full speed again...  Our trip in Canada was really nice, and although I was going to make it to a quilting shop or even a craft store, none of that happened! We visited Toronto and the Niagara Falls and then moved on to Québec for a little tour. Lots of lovely sights and a great encounter with whales and black bears! Holidays has also meant hand sewing as you might have seen in my previous posts and with that I managed 2 more blocks for the Mischief quilt, a yellow and a green.  I've been briefly looking for block(s) I made before but I had only made one which has been stained it seems when the basement got flooded...
