To Do Tuesday

Image
We were away on holidays last week so I really hoped that I will have/take time to sew. Well sadly it didn't work out as planned, we had to cut our holidays short by a few days and come home early. I tried to console myself thinking that I might have more time to sew by being at home earlier than originally anticipated. Well that didn't work either since I had absolutely no time to sit down and sew, which I must admit I was quite annoyed about. But maybe I should continue to try to draw a (small) list to keep some focus. 1. Finish block F8 2. Sew block F11 3. Work on my Iris bag 4. Work on Modern City Scape block #11 5. Pull my fabric for the  Tambo star quilt along Looking at the week I had planned for last week 1. Finish block F8 - very little progress 2. Start my Iris bag - started 3. Start block F11 - not started Linking to  Carol's To Do Tuesday Linky party Céline

August goals

One more month of school holidays and I was hoping a week to 10 days away but I think we will have to give up on the idea so we'll probably be around for the time off we have. I don't think this will mean lots of sewing times though as there are masses of work to do on the house (and garden) we have just bought... Maybe I will manage some small intervals though where I can spend some free time at the machine, who knows...  Qui lting 1.   Ravenbrook Scrap Quilt Along - February, April, May, June & July blocks needed  2. Dear Jane - hoping to finish row F... 2 blocks needed 3. Modern City Scape -  hoping to catch up and finish  this quilt along - 5 more blocks needed 4. Birthday blocks -  hoping to catch up and continue  with this quilt along 5. Farmer's Wife - 1 or 2 blocks? 6. Harry Potter - a few more blocks needed to finish this top 8. Tambo star - hoping to start  this new quilt along on schedule Dressmaking / Sewing 1.  Sew a piece of...

July Furtle

Another month gone and I can't say I've had much sewing time, far too much happening otherwise. School year finished early July for all 3 children, with exams and exam results for 2 of them. We then had the Main Square festival over 4 days, too much music and partying to find some sewing time! We then FINALLY sign on our new house. It's been quite a long time coming and very eventful until the 11th hour but we signed mid July. Now we have the keys, there is a lot of work to be done before we can move in. And of course, France being France, lots of admin before we can even start the renovation work. We finished repainting the hallway and staircase in our current house which took quite some time too and wasn't the most fun really but it looks so much cleaner now. On the sewing front, I haven't done much this month really, too much in my head, no time and no energy when there were little pockets of time. I only managed to sew the pregnant Barbie outfit that I needed ...

To Do Tuesday

Does it make any sense to even draw a list... I've hardly been sewing the last few weeks so what for? On the other hand, having a list helps me focus so maybe I should write one, even a very short one... let's try again 1. Finish block F8 2. Start my Iris bag 3. Start block F11 Linking to  Carol's To Do Tuesday Linky party Céline

Modern City Scape

80%! The quilt along is long finish and I'm lagging behind but at least I'm still behind!!  I made block #20 this last week, after weeks not turning my machine on. I was hoping to make more than one block but a migraine on Friday decided otherwise. So here it is block 20: And with block 20, I can finish row 4! 5 more blocks and I'll have the top finished. Barbie girl

And not just any Barbie, a pregnant one too! My brief was to make an outfit  that would show the pregnancy. Not my usual dressmaking! I started by looking for patterns but quickly decided that I wouldn't anything suitable so I settled on a pair of wide large trousers and a top, long at the back and cropped at the front.  I tried both pieces with some scrap fabric I had at home and cut off the pieces that needed to come off, particularly on the trousers. Once all fitted I was able to unpick and use the pieces as my new papattern. I forgot to keep them or take a picture! All worked reasonably well but the hems ended up to be very fiddly so I decided to stitch them all by hand. The delivery has been accepted (thankfully for me!), a few weeks ago now but it has taken me this long to post it.  At least one finish in July and my  One monthly goal ! Modern City Scape block

With the lack of sewing time lately I have fallen behind quite badly of the various quilt-along.  Last month, I only made one block for Modern City Scape, block #18. I also started on block #19 but didn't finish it. And block #19 I have attached all 3 blocks of Row #4 together. I had completed blocks #16 & 17 in May but never got around to post them here. I am still a few blocks behind but hopefully I will eventually catch up! Linking to  Midweek Makers ,  Wednesday Wait Loss ,  Needle and Thread Thursday ,  Put your foot down . Céline
