June Furtle

Image
Finally a month which hqs been rather productive on the sewing front. And I have also spent another afternoon in a fabulous cake making lesson to learn how to make a delicious kiwi insert and strawberry mousse on a almond base. It was a lot of work but very yummy! Otherwise the month has mainly be dedicated to make the teachers' presents: 10 pouches + 1 pencil case. I finally finished a nightdress too and made 1 block for the Modern Scape quilt-along. I am so behind on all the quilt-along now... Linking to June Furtle Céline

I am Blandine

Image
I have lost my trusted Lark Tee pattern that I have been using to make nightdresses. Sadly I have searched for it through my sewing room twice but I haven't managed to find it. Anyway I guess it will resurface one day. In the meantime, I decided to try out the free I am Blandine pattern . It is not a difficult sew with just 4 pieces... I had cut it and nearly finished it last month but my overlocker started to play up so I left it aside... until a few days ago. I started out by fixing the overlocker issue by threading at least twice... I used all fabric from my stash. The jersey is a left over from a PJ I made for my daughter last year. The ribbing for the collar is also a leftover. Finally finished, now to see how I like it as a nightdress. Céline

More pouches

Image
All the pouches are finished and gifted now! I made another 7, all with the same fabric at the top and cream zips.  I changed the colour of the faux leather at the bottom and also the lining fabric depending on the topic of the teachers. And of course I added a cute little label I don't have a picture with the 7+3 pouches together, I finished them in batches as they were needed! Nothing like a deadline to get going... Happy to have managed to make as many (well one extra) as the girls wanted to gift! Linking to  Brag about your Beauties ,  Off the wall Friday ,  Patchwork and Quilt Céline

To Do Tuesday

Image
Another week is over and this one has been quite productive, maybe out of necessity but at least there's been some progress, which is a nice change! Looking at the smaller list I wrote last week, I can report some finishes.  1.  Make block F8 -  some progress 2. M ake blocks for the Modern City Scape -starting with  #19 - no progress 3.  Finish my  nightdress -  no progress  4. Make some pouches for teachers' presents - 5 pouches + 1 pencil case This week, I have managed to sew 7 days out of 7! Incredible, nothing better than a deadline 🙂 linking  for   15 minutes to stitch with Kate Now is time to plan for the week ahead: 1. Finish  block F8 2. Pencil case

Image
A different one, with a pencil case for a male teacher. I had made a similar one a few years back so I used the same technique more or less.  The corners are not as boxed up so the pencil case is quite flat.  I used a scooter fabric for the inside.  Finished and ready to be gifted tomorrow. Open Wide Pouch

Image
It is the time of year again and as usual, I have left it quite late... although the 2 first presents which will be gifted tomorrow are already wrapped and ready to go and a third one is also finished! The end of the school year is fast approaching so it is high time I finally make the presents. Once again I have opted for the tried and trusted Open Wide Pouch pattern by Noodle Head, I am not sure how many I have made through the years but quite a few. This year I decided to make the smallest size, which finishes at W:4.5 x H:5'' so a good size to store small bits and pieces, make up or USB keys and cables or sewing supplies or art supplies or whatever really! My middle daughter is leaving Collège (Middle School) to start Lycée (High School) in September so there is a larger than usual order to say good bye to her favorite teachers! For now, as I said the first 3 pouches are completed ready to go. I used the same canvas fabric for the top and the same lining fabric for all 3....

To Do Tuesday

I haven't posted a list for about a month now and there has been hardly no sewing in the same time. I am hoping that I will finally get back into the groove and that having a list might help. My stress levels seem to be quite high with everything going on, so who knows, maybe I'll get some time to relax with some fabric.... Here is a varied list for the week, so maybe I'll find inspiration in one or more projects: 1.  Add sashing to Dear Jane block F1 and sew to the rest of the F row 2. M ake blocks for the Modern City Scape (I have 5 or 6 to catch up with I guess , starting with block #18 ) 3.  Make Birthday blocks  (I have  more than 5 to catch up with I guess , starting with block #17 ) 4. Sew the Ravenbrook Scrap Quilt Along blocks for February, April, May and June 5.  Finish my  nightdress 6. Cut some pouches for the teachers' presents 7. Sew a Barbie outfit Linking to  Carol's To Do Tuesday Linky party Céline

May Furtle

Image
Well, what can I say? Time has escaped me and my sew-jo has completely disappeared so I've done hardly nothing this month... too much "life" going on to find time for anything else. I started a night dress, but not with my favourite pattern, that I still can't find despite tidying my sewing area.... despite being a very easy and quick sew, it's not yet finished.  I finished Dear Jane block F1 (no sashing yet) and blocks #16 & #17 for Modern City Scape for a total of 3 blocks And a few bits to help out on some art projects for an exhibition but this is it really, nearly nothing...
