Another month has gone by sooo quickly! I can't believe it is nearly June already. I made a few items this month and also some blocks so I am rather happy about that, including some not on the list one... oops! Hoping for finish 1.  Orsola dress -  nearly finished, I only have the inside waistband to finish sewing by hand .   This will be my  One monthly goal  - finished and enjoyed already! WIP 1.  Farmer's wife - no progress   2. Gipsy Wife - lots of catch up needed here  -  no progress   3. Postcards of the world - 1 more postcard to draw and 1 to finish - there has been a lot of unpicking and some stitching too....   4. Farmer's Wife 1930 - let's try to continue to keep up more or less - I would really like to pick this one up again.... - 10 more blocks this month UFO / Abandoned WIP 1. HST modern sampler quilt - (19 blocks) - this one was my February goal on the APQ ...

Yes, another one! I really love this pattern, in case you were wondering :-) so I now plan my makes to squeeze in an Ogden as well when I can. And the Nellie blouse I made was no exception of course. So I made an Ogden with the crepe de Chine as well and although I finished it about the same time as the blouse, I hadn't had a chance to wear it yet because the sun just wasn't there! But finally this week-end, I wore it for our meal in the restaurant for French Mother's Day.  It is interesting to see how fabrics behave differently. Although I used exactly the same size as my other Ogden, this one feels a lot more tight when wearing it. But it is still such a nice top and I love the back of it too. Little by little, I will get there! But I must admit I have been more drawn towards clothes making against this month. Anyway I did squeeze another 3 Farmer's Wife 1930 blocks, only 3 but 3 more... and with just under a week until the end of May, who knows, I might reach 10 blocks this month! For now, meet #22 Cat #25 Crystal and #40 Grandmother, which was a bit fiddly with the Y-seams That gives me 9 blocks this month. Celine

Another successful week-end when I have managed to make a new garment from start to finish. This time I had set my eyes on the Nellie Blouse by Republique du Chiffon after seeing so many great ones online. I had never tried a Republique du Chiffon pattern before, nor had I made a "blouse" really. With the ruffle, this one has no collar to build and it is sleeveless so that another simplification. I had a lovely Crepe de Chine in my stash that I had bought 2 meters of last year very cheaply so I decided to use it up to try this new-to-me pattern. I cut the pieces on Friday night and managed to complete the blouse between Saturday and Sunday. I even found some buttons in my box that could work for the blouse! Et voila, a new blouse ready to be worn on Monday morning! How good is that? Plus there is the added feel good factor of using some of my ever-increasing stash. I can't believe it is over a month since I had sewn any patchwork blocks. There is some serious competition for my free time between dressmaking and patchwork! Anyway, after finishing my orsola dress, I picked up my Farmer's Wife 1930 blocks in an attempt to keep it going somehow. We had a glorious week-end with lots of sunshine and an extra day as Monday was bank holiday plus we had some company as my Mum came over. I sneaked a Iittle sewing time here and there and managed to make 6 blocks over the week-end, which I am really happy about, even if they are not all perfect (3/4' squares and HST are fiddly!) 17 Bride 18 Carol 19 Carolina 29 Doris 30 Em 31 Eva No particular reason for making those blocks other than I had the paper piecing patterns already printed out. 6 blocks so f ar this month, let's hope I can keep the momentum going and carry on! I didn't finish my Orsola Dress in April as I hoped but she is finally finished now and I have been able to wear it today! I love it, it is a nice pattern. I love the front hem which is so unusual and the wrap in the back is beautiful. I was coming in between 2 sizes so I made the bigger one but I should really have graded between the sizes for a tighter fit. Maybe next time, but for now, I'll enjoy my new dress and the sunshine! I used a gorgeous hot pink cotton/linen fabric that I bought last year and lined it with a floral lawn fabric, all from my stash. This is my entry for #sewtogetherforsummer and incredibly, I have finished so long before the deadline! Another one of my Q2 FAL list and also my One Monthly Goal as well as my first OPAM for May. After the success of the Blanche Bag with my youngest daughter last month, I knew I had to make the one for her older sister as promptly as possible. The plan had been to make both in parallel but that didn't quite work out. Anyway, I started cutting it on our return from holidays and I must admit, this is quite a time consuming part as there are so many pieces to cut once you add the main fabric, the lining, the interfacing and the stabiliser! And of course I got really side-tracked with my dressmaking projects. But I had put this project as my April One Monthly Project so with the end of the month looming, it was time to get focused again, nothing better than a deadline (even a self-imposed one) to get back on track. So I finally started sewing on Saturday night and only went as far as getting the zip for the internal pocket on the lining piece and putting the main body pieces together.... not very far really!  I had (as usual!) great ambitions for Sunday but my free sewing ...
